Good work from Meeke winning his first Rally, the first British win for 13 years and a 1st - 3rd as well.

Next week DTM starts with a new 2 race a weekend format (Sat/Sun) hopefully Merc will turn up with a car this year.

A third Indy car has flipped over in one week. Definitely needs the drivers to refuse to drive and resolve the issue before a fatality occurs.

Apparently they've made a couple of changes, but I'm not so sure they've addressed the problem:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/119026

Bit of analysis here, with a shot of a car lifting before it even hit the wall:
http://somersf1.blogspot.co.uk/2015/...s-indycar.html

I agree if one of those goes inverted in the race with the pack going towards it that's got to be a serious risk of a fatality.

I'm not sure if the Honda's have not been crashing in the same way to cause a flip but all 3 flips have been Chevvys so maybe its something in their rear wing/diffuser thats senting them over?

Helio Castroneves (also Pippa Mann's biggy)

Massive one for James Hinchcliffe, caused by front suspension failure. Car went over afterwards but that wasn't the most concerning part this time:

He's been taken to hospital. Edit: In surgery for a broken thigh bone.

Well the London Formula E seems a bit muted. Certainly doesn't look like there's 30,000 in attendance. Too many trees as well.

Yeah they're all spec cars this year, though I think that's going to change. They need to get rid of the fan boost gimmick (popularity contest to give a few seconds of higher power to selected drivers) for me to consider it a real series.

Not really a fan of these concrete corridors they seem to race on, I heard it suggested they don't want the speed comparison with other series on real tracks.

Awesome Indycar race last night, 500miles with VERY close racing and minimum yellow flags but a very nasty looking crash on the penultimate lap.

Yeah that was the best race I've seen for a while. Glad I stayed awake until the end, and of course that no-one was hurt especially in that final crash. I'm torn though because some of the drivers aren't happy about pack racing on ovals, but in the end it's not something new either. The only remedy I can think of would be to only drive ovals where it's not possible to drive side by side like that, or not drive ovals at all.

But this could have gone very wrong if the roll hoop had dug in, or if it had slid back towards the tarmac whilst inverted on the grass and torn the roll hoop off at the transition:

Outstanding conclusion to a Formula E season.

Did feel they were far too slow in putting out the safety car though, and glad it wasn't decided by a penalty due to a car running out of energy (although who was the second car I saw on 0%?!). Also glad it wasn't decided by points for a fastest lap...

We turned on for the last 30 minutes & what a cracker, better than a lot of F1, perhaps a one off, I don't know, but very enjoyable.

It was good because the top 3 were making last desperate bids for the Championship, normally they'd just play it safe-r.

The street racing is the key concept of the series really. To demonstrate the clean and quiet nature of electric cars they run events in the middle of cities. It is also ideal for the sponsors like Renault wanting to promote their electric cars, most electric cars at the moment are going to be sold to urban dwellers, so this takes the promotion right to the heart of things.

The series gained huge PR from local media for its London race that it simply would not have gotten had they raced at Brands or Silverstone. It also made the racing far more accessible to casual fans. The vast majority of spectators around me were racing newcomers. Had they run the event on a 'real' track, it would probably have been played out in front of the usual small clique of hardcore racing fans and been of no particular interest to the sponsors or financial backers of the series. If they were just trying to avoid speed comparisons they wouldn't have run Long Beach, sections of Monaco, or publicised their testing times at Donington Park.

There was a massive crowd there, huge crowds around the podium at the finalé and wild cheering for Sam Bird. Not sure how popular the series would have been had they tried to deforest Battersea Park, but it fitted the unusual circuit well.

Surprised at the Formula E comments here. I tuned into it yesterday (accidentally, had never heard of it before) and thought it was a joke before I realised it was real. Laughably bad, like a kiddie toy version of F1.

It has close racing; three drivers in contention for the title by the final corner of the last race; seven different race winners in 11 rounds; took racing to places that have never seen racing before, including a street race in the heart of Moscow; brought in waves of casual fans with affordable tickets and interactive experiences including free autograph sessions open to everyone, not just sponsor's employees; drivers who were chosen for the spots and didn't just buy them...

But yeah, they don't sound loud so that immediately makes it bad
