Loving Just Like Fire Would - listened to the original loads growing up and he's done a great cover. Only given the others a once through but sounds great on first listen.

Agree 100%, what a great song. To be honest, I like a lot of Australian music, but I'd never heard this song until I found out it was going to be on High Hopes.
Halfway through the album, liking it so far.

I don't know if you guys have been downloading the archive series of Bruce concerts but they are truly unbelievable!!

The latest one is from the Born in the USA tour and what he does with the Nebraska songs is mega, I've bought each concert as its released and have failed to be disappointed, just did a long drive tonight and the Latest release was stunning. It's worth getting for Atlantic City and Used Car alone.

Tbh, I'm not too big on lives albums - I prefer the studio versions when listening at home/in the car etc. Of course the best live album of all time is Bruce's '75-'85, which I've listened to many times over the years.

Might give one of the downloads a go at some point.

Got to agree. It's so good it could get out of hand. Now I want to get all the shows where he does full album (USA , BTR, Darkness and the WI&ESS). Bought the last one in FLAC but wonder worth it's worth sacrificing to MP3 to save a few quid.

I've bought the flac files then burnt them to cd and put them back into iTunes. For the sake of 2 quid (or whatever it is) and with concerts this good I gonna keep doing this.

This way I can blast the flac in the car and mp3's on my phone. This last release has been the best and is Springsteen with an awesome back catalogue to choose from (before it became diluted with Human Touch etc.. ) and he and the band are blowing on all cylinders and having fun.

This has been my favourite full concert release by any artist, love the little bike bell on Used Car and Jonny99 sounds angry and full of passion. I'll stop now as I could go on and on

Just got the latest concert from the Tunnel of Love tour. It's a recording from early on in the tour in an arena from LA. The recording is spot on but the show is no where near as good as the last release in terms of song choice (No Nebraska). I do like the use of the horn section on certain songs but never got song like Part Man Part Monkey which just felt like songs by numbers. It's still worth the download as there are some gems 'Have love, will travel' & 'Sweet Soul Music'

Anyone else been downloading these snippets of time!!

Watching the London Calling Live in Hyde Park Blu-Ray - brilliant stuff. Would love to see Springsteen live.

(Find it so random that Silvio is on guitar/backing vocals also)

Must have missed these before Christmas on BBC4, but both The Ties That Bind (Making of The River documentary) and the 1980 Tempe Arizona live concert are available in the BBC iPlayer for the next 19 days.

Thanks - watching it today. Concert was the year before I first saw him - think the 78 to mid 80's era was one of his best

Watched the doc last night. Interesting as always, but not a patch on the Darkness documentary.
More of a talking head approach without the studio archive footage.

At the time of the Darkness box set, I read a review that talked about what a good editor of his own material Springsteen was; the tracks that ended up on the album, really made it what it was and I think that 2 or 3 tracks from The Promise aside, the best songs went on the album.

I'd say with The River it's the other way around. The title track is certainly one of his best ever and a few others are decent (e.g. Independence Day, Point Blank). However, it beggars belief that Roulette, Restless Nights, I Wanna Be With You and Where The Bands Are were cast-offs whilst some other knockabout and to be honest sub-standard stuff made the final cut.

Just came across this. Get it now guys not sure how long it'll be there for.

To celebrate the holidays and a year of Live Bruce Springsteen releases, an hour of previously unreleased live music from The River Tour in Tempe, AZ Nov. 5, 1980 is now available as free MP3s. Mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered at Gateway Mastering, the ten song compilation completes the concert included in the recent box set The Ties That Bind.http://live.brucespringsteen.net/default.aspx
