I bought the NAD PP2 in the end, and it works a treat. I can't remember vinyl sounding this punchy, its great to listen to again

I don't have an Ipad, but this newly-released app claims to vinyl-ize your digital files to create a more pleasant listening experience.

If anyone is interested, selling my refurbished Bush turntable from the 60s. Looks amazing, sounds pretty good too (although obviously not compared to proper seperates! Nice for a living room anyway!).

There are a couple of At The Drive-In reissues coming soon

http://music.thedigitalfix.com/conte...re-issued.html

Not sure how much they are likely to be but I imagine the Relationship of Command one will be hugely popular considering the prices the orignal pressing goes for.

Can anyone suggest where I can get a crate for holding vinyls?

I know I could probably try an get a milk crate, but it needs to be the right size.

Re: The OFFICIAL Vinyl Thread

Really Useful Boxes are best.

The XL versions are perfect for records. Staples and a few other places sell them so worth shopping around for

Looking to sell on my Vinyl collection due to space issues.

Apart from eBay, can anyone recommend anywhere that will buy complete collections ? I've tried EIL, but they weren't interested, and the local record shops only concentrate on 70s rock (no bad thing).

The collection is a complete mixture of pop, rock, dance, punk, indie etc etc etc - Loads of 12"s, 7's, albums, coloured vinyls, picture discs, promo's

Have a hunt for a local record fair and book a stall. You'll need to do some research as to values but it should be well worth the effort.

Just stick anything with little or no value in a box marked 50p or £1 and you should be able to get rid of loads of stuff.

Is there a site out there that is good for checking out whether vinyl new releases come with a download code or CD?

Since having a Spotify Premium sub, I am buying fewer CDs, but I figured for those few I do buy to get a physical product, I may as well get a vinyl version. But I would prefer it if they came with a CD or code so I can also listen in the car or when I don't have access to Spotify or the record deck.

Bowie's The Next Day vinyl has been posted from Amazon. It now comes with the Deluxe CD and the vinyl is also the Deluxe version too on 2 LP's. Bargain at just £14.

The band's own site or the record label normally has the info.

Alternatively record shop listings will normally say.

I've transferred a few vinyl albums to CD but never been happy with the results but, a couple of days back, I transferred a rare vinyl folk album for a friend (he was given the album but no longer has a record deck). This time I used a mixer to pre-balance the sound recorded onto the PC, rather than post processing, and I'm really knocked out by the result - it sounds as good as straight vinyl. I left all the pops and crackles in and set the inter-track delay to 0 seconds so there is no gap between tracks. All I'm missing is flipping it over after 20 minutes!

Recording vinyl can sound better than the CD due to retaining the warmth sound of the vinyl.
