I saw The office today and was wondering where P&R was only to find it was a mid-season replacement show! I'm not sure if I buy the story that it's because Poehler is pregent, unless she's going to take 3 months off

She had her new sprog several months ago & production started back on the show this week apparently, so everythings back on track for an early 2011 start.

Actually they have episodes in the back and ready to go. They didn't stop production when Season 2 ended and went straight into Season 3 so that when the show came back on in the Autumn (As they assumed it would) they could both afford to have Poehler off and to not interrupt the show. But NBC suddenly decided they wanted to give 'Outsourced' the spot instead.

Even if Outsourced goes off the air there's no guarantee they'll use Parks and Rec. They have other Mid Season replacements they want to use.

Well **** my Dad says was terrible yet it got HUGE ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if this sticks around.

Surely ratings for episode 1 tell you pretty much nothing in that respect? The number that come back for Eps 2 and 3 are what matter.

Someone mentioned this would never get shown over here. Why not?

I am sure it will at some point, most likey to be Comedy Central as they seem to have done quite well with the Office. Probably have to wait till there are more episodes available.

I stopped watching P&R part way through season 1, but eventually gave it another go and have now finished the amazing season 2. What a turnaround! The key seems to have been that Leslie went from seemingly delusional to just optimistic -- and she's very good at her job. Whereas Michael Scott occasionally shows he's a good salesman (and hence has a reason to still be there), Leslie Knope genuinely runs the department. And now that the rest of the characters actually respect her abilities, the whole thing works like a charm.

Anyway, two things. First, season 3 is starting on the 20th of January after The Office (which is a good slot for it to get ratings this season). Second: Jabba The Hutt.

Yeah it's one of the things I like about the show, if they'd made Leslie just a female Michael Scott it with have been far too much like The Office.

That's not his reason for being there, he's a manager.

TBH I didn't notice a big change in quality, it was better but it wasn't awful in the first series, it was good and then it became really good.

Sure, but he's a bad manager. Being good at sales means there's at least a plausible reason he still has a job.

I doubt it. The reason he didn't get fired is because they just didn't. Lots of bad managers in real life don't get fired and the branch was actually one of the best in Dundler-mifflin. Then the other branches closed and Kathy Bates seems to like him

First episode of Season 3 aired last night for anyone interested in this show. Looking forward to seeing it

The third season kicks off with the Pawnee government still shut down, but that doesn't stop Leslie from putting together a Harvest Fest which might threaten their jobs in the Parks Department.

Good solid opener. Still lovin' Rob Lowe's character & April Ludgate grows ever more beautiful with every episode.
