Heard that they had stoped pre poduction cause of the war, but what is happening now.

Over on imdb its say that the film seems dead

I hope not

At a press conference for The Passion of the Christ, or whatever the movie is called now, a few weeks ago, Gibson apparently stated that it was extremely unlikely that he would now be doing a fourth Mad Max.

He must've just gone off the idea, and I guess big stars can do whatever they want, whether a deal is signed or not (and it must have been or the film wouldn't have been so definitively announced).

A real shame IMO. I guess there's still a small chance, but it doesn't seem likely.

Dragging this from the dead because it looks like part of the Justice league deal is that Miller can make Mad Max 4 again. (Minus Gibson)

So who's the new Max?

I'm resurrecting this thread...

There's a multipart interview with George Miller over on a Newsweek blog (linked to via an article on AICN), in which he confirms that MAD MAX FURY ROAD is still on, though a couple of movies down the line. Read here:

Miller confirms FURY ROAD

Whats interesting, is he states he's delaying the film to also work on a MAD MAX game, which he hopes can be released in conjunction with FURY ROAD (there are links at the bottom of that article for the first part of interview)

And, from Miller's mouth: definitely NO Mel Gibson back.

MAD MAX FURY ROAD a go-er! yes please!!!

Maybe, if he was in Sheriff Bullock mode.

Would love to see another Mad Max movie, as long as they keep the car chases physical rather than CGI'd.

Knowing our luck, the Death Race 2000 remake/Speed Racer movies will flop & this project will be put on hold again.

Death race 2000 has Statham in it. For that reason alone i hope it does well.

Statham as the new Mad Max would work for me, certainly better than the likes of say .... Nic Cage. *shudder*

Well, if you wanna keep the antipodean theme, a beefed up Eric Bana wouldn't be bad, imho.

Or, now that he's not going to be Snake Plissken, how about a post-300 Gerard Butler?

Or maybe, like with the first Max, Miller will cast an unknown? Then again, the scale of the budget may require a 'name' to open it.

Totally agree that the action should be real, in-camera stunts, rather than CGI, but Miller is one of those directors I trust to do FX correct.

Bana is a great suggestion actually. He does intense and violent well.

Must rewatch Chopper sometime soon actually.

No interest in that.

Still, if it gets them to release decent editions of The Road Warrior & Beyond Thunderdome on dvd, bring it on I guess...

I read this last week and wasn't impressed.

I'll play the game but i want real cars in a real film smashing the bejesus out of each other. Not an anime no matter how good it is.
