Josh Gad - Reunited Apart

Anybody been watching this? Actor Josh Gad gets the cast and crew of famous films back together via Zoom on his YouTube channel and they chat about the films. Watched The Goonies and Back to the Future, which are both very good.

There's a bumper 50-minute Lord of the Rings version today that I haven't watched yet. 80s film geeks will love it.

Yeah I'm enjoying these but haven't watched the Splash episode because I've never seen the film. Check out his channel for some extra clips such as Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen) making his own video call as he couldn't make the main reunion.

The splash one was great. I remember the film, but have not seen it in a long time. The episode was a natural conversation and had some interesting stories from Hanks and Howard. I think none of them had thought about it for years, so it was some genuine reminiscing. With the Goonies and BTTF, those actors are regularly asked to revisit their film and their stories are more 'worn in' for want of better term.
... then at the end there was a lovely tribute to John Candy to round it off.

That's a good shout, to which I'd add Stand by Me.

Ditto! As did the John Candy tribute at the end of the Splash one. A bit odd to have it done by Ryan Reynolds, but hey...

Great idea this & they've all been highly entertaining. The only (very minor) downside is Gad's over-use of the word 'Iconic'. I love Splash, but has any part of that film ever been called Iconic?

Along similar lines, visual effects gods Industrial Light & Magic released a lockdown chat to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back last month:

It's quite techy, but if you're a FX nerd (like me), it's a fascinating & educational watch.

The Ghostbusters episode was fun, though like BTTF & Goonies, not a great deal of new info in there - especially given the recent documentary Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters that dropped earlier this year.

That said, it was nice to see them all again & I loved Sigourney Weaver's "What are you doing?" story about shooting the fridge scene.

Slightly amazed they got Bill Murray to take part. He's been noticeably absent in most retrospectives.

Looking forward to the Ferris Bueller episode, though apparently it's the last one Gad's doing...

Agree, haven't watched the LOTR episode yet but they've all been great. As you said, I was really surprised that got Bill to join in.

My God! The John Hughes compilation at the end had me in tears!

Bueller and John Hughes films are amazing and were such an influence on my youth.
