I promised myself I wouldn't put myself in this position again. Another of the few shows I adore getting screwed-over. This actually feels worse then Angel, Futurama, Family Guy, etc. as this show is still so young.

If it doesn't even get two full seasons this'll be yet another disgrace to the infamous Fox Network. I was sure it would get a third season, I never imagined it wouldn't get to finish the second season.

Such a waste.

TV Guide sounds a little more hopeful.

Well that sounds more promising, though at the same time, Fox are being quite clear in their email that they want an improvement in ratings for the show to continue.

The BBC have relegated it to a later time slot as well, always though of it as a Channel 4 show anyway. Ideal replacement for Friends

tbh I think people are too stupid for this to replace friends

I just don't get what is wrong with people?!
Here's a wonderfully funny and genuinely clever show and hardly anyone is watching! WHY FFS?
You would have thought that here in the UK the same audience that loves stuff like Peep Show and The Office would've been all over this?

Maybe another US network will see the potential if Fox do drop it?
There's always the (most re-watched in recent memory) dvds I guess! *sigh* Just hope season 2 makes it to disc as well.

Kristen at E! has always been pretty 'in' with the Arrested Development team: http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Kristin/index.html
Quote:
Cardiac Arrested: It seems that even Emmy wins, Globe wins, countless other awards, nominations and intense critical buzz don't guarantee you a spot on the dial these days. At least, that's how it looks for Arrested Development--the best damn comedy on television, and I defy you to tell me otherwise--after Fox's announcement that the series will end "early" this season, on Apr. 17.

The network's take? They "just don't have enough episodes" to go into May. My take? Hogwash. Sources at the studio tell me the network decided to cut short the order (which was supposed to be a full 22), a fact you may have heard about if you caught Wednesday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live--the best episode ever, thanks to his hilarious romp on the Lost set (serenading Dominic Monaghan and getting eaten by the Cookie Monster) and a very special guest, Arrested's David Cross, who vented over the news.

"I just heard this morning, I am not making this up, that they're shutting down production," he told the J-meister. "They're saying it's not canceled, they're just saying were not doing anymore now...it's a bummer." He went on to say what we're all thinking: "Thanks a lot. You won, America." Meaning, we owe this lovely development to you yahoos who didn't watch. Where is that evil Cookie Monster when you need him?

My sources at Fox studio tell me that they're still pushing for more episodes for this season, but it looks like we'll only get 18 instead of 22, and it's evident Arrested Development's third season stands on extremely shaky ground. Like, tsunami-territory shaky.

That said, it's time to rally the troops, force everyone you know to watch this show. (I'm talking duct tape and handcuffs; don't be shy.) And if you're really a superstar, you can send a support letter in blue, in honor of our favorite outspoken Blue Man, Tobias Bluth, aka David Cross, to: Gail Berman, 10201 W. Pico Blvd., Bldg. 100, Los Angeles, CA 90067.

Oh, and do me a favor. If you have a clue, pass that along to her, too. Putting American Dad on after the Super Bowl instead of Arrested Development is an embarrassment of Janet meets Justin proportions.

I've just powered through the DVD set and the first 9 episodes of S2 and I have to agree with everyone else, it is brilliant. Each cast member is perfect for their role and George Michael just cracks me up whenever he's onscreen!

This show just went right down in my estimation

I wasn't so keen on Martin Short in last week's episode (he seemed to overact somewhat); there's a two week break now so maybe he'll learn to tone it down in the mean-time.

Oh, he's in the next epsiode?

I thought it was a bit of low humour for AD to be honest.. it was still a funny episode though.

Tobias, as always..

I don't know for sure if he's in it, but they certainly seemed to suggest he'd be back (depends how much of the "on the next..." actually refers to future plot elements. The actual scenes usually aren't in the next episode, but maybe the indicated plot will go ahead).

Nope, he's not in the next 2 eps (a two parter, shown on the same night), but Julia Louis-Dreyfus is!

I've just seen the latest two eps, utter genius - nothing else I've seen recently comes even close to the quality of this show.

Am I the only one whose disappointed with the new series then? The plots seem so contrived, and a large portion of the jokes appear to be based solely on references to the first season, especially yesterday's episodes with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

I really enjoyed this week's ep (213: Motherboy XXX) -- not least for the inclusion of Henry Winkler literally jumping a shark (again).

Not to mention the return of Carl Weathers, the BK sponsorship (including Ron Howard saying how great it is), Gob's wife and her penchant for taking that particular type of photo, and Michael taking George Snr's "going on that church thing" as another reference to Ann. Oh, and Michael just shutting the door on Maeby after her "necklace with a T on it" thing.

Excellent episode, back up to their high standard after a few slightly dodgy episodes. Some great moments: GOB and Barry preparing the divorce ("She's gotta name. You don't happen to know what it is do you?" "That's another reason: I'm not super prepared"), the shark jumping, George Snr's doll party
