I could have done without the 'learning to ride a weird critter' comedy interlude, & it was a lot shorter than I was expecting, but other than that, loved it.
Just a shame we can't binge the entire season straight away.
Hopefully it won't get overly obsessed with the Mandalorian way of life, like that half season of Rebels did.

Looked like the dirtier world of the the original trilogy compared to the prequels and the new stuff. The street scenes where he goes to meet Werner Herzog's character felt very cramped and claustrophobic.
CGI a little clunky in places, the riding of the Blurrgs and the IG-11 droid movement.
Music is terrible though, not Star Wars enough for my liking, Pedro Pascal's voice needs to be a little more menacing like the original Jeremy Bulloch's voice.
Hope the Mandalorian history is kept to a minimum Rebels and Clone Wars have already spent so many episodes on this; and they were not very good ones at that.
7/10

Did it not set this up by showing a lot of crashed tie fighters and so forth?

I see the 2nd episode is under 31 minutes including credits so that confirms that the show is a “30 min” show & that the opener was an extended episode!

Possibly, and if so that's disappointing. But several modern streaming shows now have runtimes anywhere from 30 to 70 mins within the same show.

Where have you seen that? All I've found indicates they're 40 minute episodes.

Episode 2 is just under 31 minutes for sure and that includes a reminder of the last episode and credits. Disney haven't confirmed runtimes for future episodes so I guess we will see each week.

The music that plays throughout and forms the music over the end credit, the repeating part of it, where do I know they from ?
It feels very in Star Wars but very very familiar

If it's what I think you mean, then it's almost identical to the Klingon motif from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (and subsequent films/shows in the franchise).

The soundtrack is being released on Spotify and Apple Music on an episode by episode basis.

Episode 2 was as good as the first one for me.
Are we sure ?
Also, IMDB says Nolte is in 1 episode - did I blink and miss him?

He plays Kuiil, the Ugnaut. Well, voices him anyway.

D'oh.
I am blaming IMDB for only crediting him for one episode and also crediting Kyle Kacek as an Ugnaught
Thought it was his voice mind. Then again it took me ages to work out it was him in Angel Has Fallen as well

Star Wars: The Mandalorian (November 2019)
2nd episode was more entertaining than the first but even thinner on story/plot. Worth it alone for the exploding Jawas which made me chuckle a LOT!
The soundtrack is also starting to grow on me, especially during the quieter moments. When it gets bombastic, it feels out of place in a (so far) low-key show like this...

Episode 2. Wow. This is everything I was hoping. If it continues like this then it's likely to become one of my favourite Star Wars things. I LOVE that they are using puppets. Also, I'm really starting to like the music a lot.

Yep 2 was great, especially the Jawas. I assume baby yoda toys are going to be the thing this Christmas?

Its Nolte's voice, not him in costume as he is 6" 1 according to the internet
Its only 5-10 years after ROTJ Yet the Mandalorian and the Ugnaught don't grasp what it did. Mandalorians and Jedi had plenty of contact with each other according to Clone Wars etc So I don't get why he does not recognize a force user.
Plus how do these work? is everyone implanted with a device at birth or something? I get the impression that these are a technological twist on the wanted posted but still have a device that leads you to the bounty seems to be making it a bit to easy.
Was that the same as the one from ? Quite a callback seeing how the last time we saw one was having trouble with it.
Still don't rate the music, No dodgy effects this time but still little in the way of story. Great visuals and I bet are the most wanted toy this year, but will they be in shops in time?
For shteve...

Regards the “definitely not” thing
Saw a rather interesting post online about the doctor from episode one and the patch on his arm and where that may be heading
