Yes, that was massive, but we were well on top after Giroud came on.

Big win last night, even if we didn't play particularly well with a lack of urgency until Giroud came on. That being said, it could have been a comfortable win had Forster not been in terrific form. Really pleased for Ramsey to get the assist too as, given the reactions of some 'fans' around me when he misplaced a pass, it was giving me horrible memories of Eboue.

I do like the fact that we have two very different strikers in Giroud and Welbeck, which should mean that we can paly slightly differently. Now if Wenger could just sort out the defence, some holding/defensive midfielders and maybe Cech in goal we would be sorted.

I don't get anyone's problem with Szczesny this season. Any keeper would look suspect behind our defence given the way it's played at times!
We can play differently with the two, but I think Wednesday night showed that they're better together. Welbeck was loving all Giroud's flicks.

I don't particularly have a problem with Szczesny he has improved a lot of the past season or two, or at least cut out some of the silly mistakes he was prone to make. But Cech is still a step up in class at the moment.
It is the defence & midfield which needs to be looked at first, but if Cech was available for around the Ł6-8m mark it could be a good deal for Arsenal.

One of my least favourite games of the season today. Not just for fear of losing (like we have so often), but of injuries too, especially given the season we've had on that front!

Well, that was a fun first half. Utterly awful. Giroud missing a sitter to change the game at 1-0. Can only see it getting worse from here.

Well your fear of losing was well justified! Rubbish.

We're used to being beaten away to Stoke & we're used to humiliating score lines, but the two together? ********

Wow. Momentum with Arsenal. Didn't see the offside goal but if the ref got it wrong it was a big one!

He got it right but the referee didn't even flag! He used the replay on the big screen to change the decision. Shocking.
Brilliant game though. Picked the right one to watch this week.

Not as humiliating a score as it once looked (everywhere was saying it was 4-0), but yet another defeat. I did think for a minute we'd get a very unlikely point. I'll just take shameful joy in Newcastle's win instead.

Yep, lost it in first half. Awful performance. Red card took away any momentum we were building, but we wouldn't have deserved a point anyway. Yet again though, the other teams around slip up so, at worst, we'll be four points off fourth come the end of the weekend.
The real frustration this season is our inability to build up a run of wins. Think the most we've managed (in the league) is two. Nowhere near good enough. Rest of December isn't pretty. Tricky aways at Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton before the transfer window opens.
With Chambers' suspension, imagine Debuchy will be rushed back for the game against Newcastle? Unless Bellerin was only taken off today because of tactical reasons.

Even if we can't field our best back 4, a settled back 4 would be nice! although Mertesaker just isn't the same player without Kos. Not just the back 4 though, time and time again in the first half when Stoke were on the attack, there was acres of space in front of them without an Arsenal player in sight. Reserve team midweek? Campbell surely must get a start mustn't he?

You'd hope so. Minimal chance of Anderlecht beating Dortmund at their place, but perhaps have players like Giroud and Welbeck on the bench in case it's getting to the last 20 mins and we're drawing and Dortmund are losing heavily? Chambers will definitely play given he's out at the weekend, wouldn't like to see Koscielny playing though.
One thing that's become increasingly apparent this season is that post-match after defeats, Wenger always seems to know exactly why we lost and yet never sets the side up to counter-act that. Like today, he mentioned that for Stoke, it's one of their games of the season given the past animosity, and yet the way we started, it's as though he hadn't got that through to the players. Is it just reactive from seeing the game pan out, or does he just not set us up to beat someone at anything other than our own game?
