You say that (people say the same for the league cup) but at the end of the day, if you're in a match of whatever 'level' you should put in the correct application and your best eleven as goals, performances and results breed confidence.
I said after the Liverpool game that we wouldn't win another game this month and so it proves, its going to be tough to draw any positives from tonights inept display, before the last game we play this season that's actually going to mean the most, come the final tallying (we know we'll have another league dip and just squeak Europa League qualifying on the final day) and if we can say that now, it kinda proves its a bit of a sham.
In all honesty, how many of the players on show tonight (starters or subs) would you say were worth their place ?

I despise players who turn their backs on the ball, all this guff about wanting to play as CB rather than RB, with a lack of bottle like that, Dier shouldn't even be a consideration.

Same old Tottenham. Why on earth Chadli gets near the first team is utterly beyond comprehension. Chelsea there for the taking and we shoot ourselves in the head

I know its exceedingly unlikely but Eriksen needs to actually get stuck into a challenge once or twice if we're to amount to anything today, Kane looks like he's having to create everything himself.
Townsend is (as usual) not impressing, why not bring on someone who will go forward and pick a cross, rather than sideways/backwards ?

Show some ******* spirit ffs.
Yet again, lack of cover from midfield allows them to run right at our (lack of) heart and score easily

Yeah, it's good of Pochettino to give Chelsea a fair chance by only bringing on our star talent for the last 20 mins. It's like giving a styptic pen to someone that's just had their throat cut

"Skipped away from Lamela ........." yeah football seems to have been doing that to him for the past 2 seasons.

Just look at the different in fight between Kane and Lamentable and Eriksen, leagues apart ............
Not many of these faces I would want to see, being given another season.

Soldado, Lamentable, Dier, Walker, Townsend, all need to be moved along.

Kiss goodbye to any pie in the sky thoughts anyone might've had regarding CL qualification.
Now that we have zero left to 'distract' us, time to see what our best 11 actually is, keep playing those in form players until any get injured, at least then we've a better guide as to who is actually trying to help us win a game, rather than just picking up their weekly wage.

The last month has seen the club catastrophically mismanaged. Trying to fight on three fronts has cost us in all three competitions. Same ineptitude year on year since we sacked Redknapp. Add that to the fact that our bench cost more than the team on the pitch and you have a recipe for disaster. The only surprise is that we mathematically are even close to the top four.

Indeed, very disappointing month. The authorities need to look at the fixture scheduling and format of the league cup, in our last final I recall we were playing in Europe on the Thursday night as well. There is just no way that you can effectively prepare for both matches. Minor point in the grand scheme of things but if they want English teams to do well in Europe then it would be good to have a helping hand. Not to mention removing the need for two legs in the semis etc.
Very disappointed but at least there is a bit of heart being shown and it is a relatively inexperienced side. Here is hoping we avoid the EL next season!

7 goals, 5 assists puts him third on our goal scorers list for this season's PL, behind Kane and Erikson. If he were in the Liverpool squad that'd make him their top scorer.
Still, he did seem to have a couple of games lately where he was looking the business, but that seems to have petered out somewhat. Gah.

He is ok going forward but was caught being lazy in our most important game of the season.
Thought we just didnt look penetrating. Maybe tiredness caught up a bit on a big pitch.
Fed up more with Townsend than Chadli. All he wants to do is cut back inside and slow the attack down then waste it. He rarely goes for the byline, partly cos he plays on the right and is left footed!
If theres a positive we can take from the game its that we dominated possession against Chelsea and not many teams will do that. We just need more cutting edge and hopefully in the summer we will buy a hungry top class centre forward to partner Kane.
Think the key point in the game was not subbing Walker as soon as he got his knock. He was slow getting to close Costa down and that cost us dearly.
Was a stupid free kick for the first goal and just unlucky that Rose wasnt tall enough to get more on it than skim it on into the danger area.
Big games against Swansea and QPR now. We have to pick up and get points on the board. Liverpool look like they are going from strength to strength but theres every place from 3rd to play for.
We have to learn to cope with a big fixture list and I dont agree the Europa isnt worth fielding our best team in. A CL place is up for grabs for the winners and its valuable european football experience building our coefficient to get a better draw if we do get back in the CL.
