Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
I don't think we're playing any less attractively than under Harry but the difference is AVB has the know-how to change things tactically to get points. I've been very pleased with his first season no matter what happens after the next two games.
We're one point better off than this stage last season apparently. Don't forget that awful run of form from February last season. Harry couldn't seem to stop it.
With some backing in the summer it could be a very good 13/14.

Not sure how the one point extra squares with the tactical genius

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Our top four chances has been hammered by the defeats to Fulham and Wigan. We're still far too capable of a shocker. A lack of consistency. Seems both Harry and AVB have suffered with this and have not been able to fix it.

Some bad results this year but generally we have performed much better in the bigger games and shown we are a match for them. We have been missing Kaboul and Sandro most of the year. Defoe has been out for a bit too.
Parker needs to be moved on as does the Hudd to give Carroll some more playing time.
Think BAE could be on his bike.
Ade did more in that game than he has all year. Obviously told he needs to find another club.
Hopefully we can win against Stoke and Wigan can find a new gear on Tuesday.
If we go to the last game with a draw for the Gooners and a win at home against Sunderland being enough then that would be great.
AVB has made good subs generally but the first 11 has been a bit lacking sometimes with too many changes. Hopefully Caulker can continue his development perhaps with Kaboul at RB. Gallas will retire hopefully. Should be an interesting summer and Im confident AVB can attract big names to us that will improve our level.

I think Caulker has been criminally underused in the second half of the season IMO, Gallas is gone. We should be able to cope with having these 4 in rotation next year - Dawson has been a bit suspect in recent games IMO but still 1st choice partner for Vertonghen at the moment as we don't know how Kaboul will be when he returns.
I'd also suspect BAE will be gone, he is a good ball player but loses concentration far too easily. I don't know if Rose coming back will be a better option or if Fryers will step up but Naughton isn't a long term answer. Walker has started to get a bit more consistency back in the final 3rd of the season - our turning point seemed to be his crazy cross field ball against Liverpool, been patchy at best since then.
Parker and Hudd are ok as squad members but we really suffer with the absence of Dembele and/or Sandro if they both have to start. I suspect another quality player will be recruited there or at least required.
We have enough 'playmaker' types with Holtby and Gylfi, would like another fast attacker though as competition/cover for Bale and Lennon. Townsend is a start but I don't know if he can be a 90 minute player. As much as Dempsey tries, he just doesn't have the quality for this level, that being said his goalscoring record is better than Adebayors and has chipped in with a few important ones. Can't help but feel that we would have been better off persisting with Gylfi in that role who has more technical ability.

Still think Kaboul and Caulker is ultimately our best partnership but got so much respect for Dawson this year (though yes does struggle against the really clever attacks) Rejected a guaranteed starting place at QPR (OK hindsight but they were viewed as mid-table), has adapted his game to how AVB likes to defend and continues to just get on with it physically and mentally, a model pro and there’s not too many of them.
Agree with the rest of what you say, think Townsend, Rose and Carroll will be more involved with the squad next year and Ade will probably be given another season, his high wages means there won’t be much demand from him. One quality midfielder (Is Moutinho still a target?) would make a huge difference, can’t see any other major transfers other than replacing BAE who is tidy on the ball but pretty average as a defender

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Striker surely?
Linked somehow today with David Villa! Spurs willing to pay more than others - 13m rather than 8m. Proven but injury worries?

Unless Ade leaves (or Bale obviously), can’t see us signing a striker. One up front means Defoe is a supersub, Dempsey, Sig, Holtby, Bale all attacking midfield options through the middle.

Dont want us spending big money for a player over the hill. Hes 31 I think. We need a player that can play the lone striker too. Ideally the likes of Benteke, Lewandowski, Hulk or Damaio!
I praying Levy will make the funds available we need to improve or we will be left behind as Chelsea and Arsenal strengthen this summer.

Damiao, never have I been so irritated by a players name before. Nothing against him, just the incessant rumours every transfer window! It won't cease until he leaves Internacional either.

Well that's Chelsea in the CL places barring a highly irregular set of results.

Yep just between us and the woolwich wanderers now.
Hope Wigan take some confidence from today to the Emirates.
