back to square 1. Yep, defense isn't good enough for us to grind out many wins, playing Naughton can't have helped...

We had a good first half. Just didnt take one of the half chances we created. Sloppy defending for their equalizer. When you go behind against sides like this its twice as difficult as they defend for their lives.
Hopefully we will be better next week against Southampton and the results go our way tomorrow. It will all hinge on the Chelsea game and Im not writing us off just yet.

Just gutted we make it hard for ourselves and bottle it every year!

It happens. You get some decisions and you don't get others. I don't think you can really take a view that referees are favouring Wigan.

Indeed. I wasn't suggesting anything of the sort. You kind of hope the ref or one of his assistants would see a boot to head.

So we are back to the position of hoping that other teams do us a favour, with Swansea sleeping since their Carling Cup win and Man Utd with nothing else to do it is looking unlikely.

One done but we're really in that last gasp position where I only think maximum points from our final games will do it and I can't see it at the moment... Here's to more hoping!

Both teams above us have a vastly better GD too so yes it is looking increasingly likely at least 70 points will be required which is our best Premier League total! Chelsea play Basel, Man Utd and us within 6 days so hopefully they will be feeling jaded after that.....perhaps Basel could take them to extra time as well!

Arsenal play QPR (relegated), Wigan and Newcastle - clutching at straws but hopefully the relegation fight will spur them on. Can't see it though as Arsenal are flat track bullies when they want to be.

Bale wins PFA player and Young Player of the Year. The vultures will be circling if you don't make CL football. He'd fit in at United but would be too pricey for us.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013

Woo! Congrats to Mr Gareth Bale. Thoroughly deserved. Now go to us in the champions league for next season please!

And not forgetting Vertonghen in the team of the year. Great first season.

Congrats to Bale, he has been superb this season and I guess it's fitting that he at least gets some recognition for it although I would say he would prefer some team awards.

Well done to Vertonghen as well, he has adapted very well and has done a pretty decent job of filling Ledley Kings boots when required.

Yes both done very well. Feeling nervous about these last few games. A thumping victory at home against Southampton would really help the jitters.

Hoping AVB is lining up some big summer targets to bolster the squad as the lack of attacking options has really hampered us.
Saw a rumour we are in for Baines which would be great if true.

Ultimately it will come down to whether or not we finish in the top 4. Same goes for the future of Bale.

I honestly think Bale will be staying regardless. At least 1 more year then if we havent qualified this year or next he will be off. Better for him to play all the time than be in and out of the Madrid team.

And Liverpool bought Suarez when they werent in CL so the best players will sign for money regardless of European football. We are usually the 15th biggest club worldwide for turnover even without CL money. The money is there for the type of player we need.

We need two top attacking players - a winger/flexible attacker like Willian. And the top striker that can be relied on for goals. Damiao or A N Other. Bet we end up with Remy though.

I only really watch our games but find it hard to believe Vertonghen merits a place in the best team this year. Very erratic and too slow to ever be top class at CB. Our lack of clean sheets attests to this. If anything Dawson has had a better season.

There is absolutely no chance that Bale will stick around if we don’t come top 4. And I’m not convinced that we’d turn down a mega bid even if we did. Just hope that’s in Spain, seeing him for either Manchester side or even worse Chelsea would break my heart

Just putting in ours/arsenal/Chelsea results I have us missing out on GD.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...or/default.stm

Not many players can attest to having performed at 100% when fit this season but I'd have Vertonghen up there, imo a much more accomplished player to Dawson with the greatest respect. Said it before but Sandro has really been a key miss, Kaboul too - I can see us progressing with/without Bale next season as long as 2/3 players minimum are brought in. When you see the depth of Chelsea's squad you wonder how we can be anywhere close to competing

Bale FWA Player of the Year.

I hope he stays at Spurs or goes to Spain - it'd be sickening to see him wasting his years at City.
