I'll be happy with the appointment. AvB seems keen on the structure, Levy should be 'less' involved in the choosing of transfer targets focussing on negotiating the deals, Baldini too seems to be well respected in football & no doubt will have a numerous contacts that could serve us well - or at least better than Levy has. The downside will be that if we ever go 3 or 4 games without winning, there will be backpage headlines linking us to Capello.

Benteke would be ideal and I’d bite your hand off if you could get him for 20m. As usual though, we missed the boat when Villa took a chance on him, all the big sides will be after him now. Defoe will never have enough to be more than a supersub/squad player and at 29, it would be silly to turn down decent offers for him.
Really think with a full pre-season, Ade can fulfil his undoubted potential. Think he got a hard time last year, injuries and ACN meant he struggled for a run of games and he is obviously the absolute definition of a confidence player.

I don't personally think that it's an offensive term - any more than Taff, Scouse or Jock would be. I do, however, realise that some genuinely do have a problem with it and that they should be respected. Ultimately, THFC is not a Jewish football club and the whole thing is anachronistic. I'd be happy to see it consigned to history but I can't see it happening.

Hoping for a change that our transfer business is done quite early and we aren't all sitting watching Sky Sports tick down to Midnight with Levy try to bring a striker in or hopeful of closing a deal etc

Pretty sure there are next to no Jews who find it offensive. Other than David Baddiel who is probably upset that he doesn't support us and ended up with the most monstrous club in history. He completely misunderstands the usage, it is a complete reclamation of the word in solidarity with anti-semitism, as shown in the UEFA games V Lazio last year. I would never personally use the word but it's a response to, not a cause of prejudice/hatred.
As for Ade, still think it's harsh to slag him off personally. He seems a genuine guy and I'd imagine having your teammates shot in front of your eyes affects the psyche somewhat. He offered a lot to the team in his first year and I see no reason why he can't regain that form.

I'd like to see him being given a bit more of a freer role rather than hanging off the shoulder of the last defender, the last few games of the season he was pulling out wide and using the space better.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
William Gallas and David Bentley have been released.
Some decent sized wages off the books there. Shame about Bentley and his failed potential.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Bentley was a bit of a one trick pony and not even that special at it either, chalked up to another Commoli folly....we seen how well he did up in Liverpool too!
Just a shame that we couldn't offload him but suppose some of the costs were covered by loan fees and wages.
Gallas was a good stop gap, obviously not so much last season but the season before he was pretty solid. Certainly not the disruptive influence that he was portrayed to be.

I agree on Gallas, people too quick to point at his Gooner roots whenever he put a slight foot wrong. I never thought his attitude/workrate was up for debate. I can see arsenal strengthening significantly this summer, Chelsea without a doubt are going to be challenging for top spot with City, Man U on the other hand.. Only takes a defeat and a couple of draws in the opening half dozen games and Moyes'll be feeling the heat. Only hope we make some sort of statement on the market.
I know its silly season but David Villa being touted about - not sure Levy understands the Madrid partnership if he does sign! Now Higuain in the other hand...

I think people are getting bored with our lack of action now - linking us with Bernard, Paulinho, Cardoso and obviously Damiao......all 4 would be ideal of course!

Fixtures out today, not an overly onerous start and a big one on 31st August! I also see Baldini has been confirmed.....obviously just missed the boat on Joe Kinnear

Really hope the Paulinho transfer goes through, what a perfect accompaniment for Sandro in central midfield. Not sure what will happen with Scott Parker, wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up with Harry at Loftus Road.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Paulinho looks like he would suit our system very well, a midfield of him Sandro and Dembele in theory is quite mouthwatering. That said, rumours of Real Madrid sticking their rich oars in...wonder if there is a bit of horseplay going on in the background i.e. Real will offer what is needed unless we start to negotiate regarding Bale?
Parker is still good enough for the top flight, QPR will be treading water in the Championship next season I would imagine with a team full of apathetic players and a manager that doesn't know the oppositions.

Good God!!! That blue one is diabolical. Even the HP logo on the home shirt is on the big side.

I'd be surprised if that 3rd kit was allowed, I thought there were rules on how big/how much of a shirt could be covered by a sponsor. The away shirt is quite nice.
