What a great game that was and indeed credit to Manchester United for getting into the next round.

Only saw the Kopmany sending off in 'real' time at the ground and it looked silly at best then, but as they say you win some you lose some

For me the MOTM was for City Milner he ran his knackers off today and covered the ground with pace and intelligence. Good Luck to Manchester United in the cup.

It's a fair point that despite the whys and wherefores of yesterday's decision, he may well have deserved it on "countback". Having said that, City are appealing and may, in this case, win. Either way, he'll probably be in the team for the first leg at least.

Overdue? wasn't Kompany sent off a few weeks ago? I cant seem to find out dates of red cards though to nail it down though.

I wouldn't have minded so much if it was consistant as Giggs would have been off about 10/20 mins later for doing pretty much the same thing to Aguero from behind.

kompanys was a 2 footed tackle off the ground
Giggs was a tackle from the side (albeit from behind)

not the same at all. (that said giggs was lucky not to get a yellow)

Kompany's was very low though, should have been a yellow. the fact that Nani didn't even react to it says it all.

Giggs was still a scissor style tackle from behind.. If Kompany's a red then that was too.

There were far too many dodgy decisions( mostly against City, some against United), Chris Foy just isn't up to standard at all.

There is no way that Giggs' tackle was the same as Kompany's

Kompany should consider himself very lucky that Nani jumped out of the way - both sets of studs showing and both feet off the ground. Kompany's tackle was arguably worse than Spearing's in the Fulham game and he had no hope of appealing - and since Fergie has spoken, the FA will follow his orders and not rescind it

If I was a City fan I would be worried that even being a man down, if you had shown a bit more guile with 20 minutes to go then you'd have got at least a draw.

He wanted to get an early hard tackle in on Nani - he took the risk, he paid the price.

If you want a tackle that was similar to Kompany's but didn't get punished then look no further than De Jong's in the second half. As somebody pointed out yesterday, Foy was a disaster in the Stoke-Spurs game a few weeks ago so god knows why he was given a match as high porfile as a Manchester derby in the FA Cup!

Hard to disagree with with that, I thought he had a shocker!! I was watching the game and there was a tackle by a United player that deserved a card and nothing was said or done. Then he booked another United player for sweet FA. It is hard to understand the rhyme or reason of the bloke. But it's his opinion that counts not mine and that's the way it goes.

Manchester United had a nailed on penalty and he did nothing

Agree with you FD how can he be given a game of such high standing after the Stoke V's Spurs debacle is scandalous.

I hope City take it to the FA but I won't hold my breath

Down to 10 men on a heavy rained soaked pitch, I thought that the players did well to drag the game back by 2 goals. At HT there was an air of 'This could turn out badly' amongst the blues I chatted with.

City played well and went out, that's the way it goes sometimes

Thought that the manager got it spot on at HT as City were all over the place coming up to HT and he made the subs and brought much of that missing organisation back to the team.

So Adam you worry about LFC and while I take on board what you are saying I think that you are wide of the mark.

It's hard to see what else we could have done. It was always going to be a case of keeping it tight and nicking a goal or three if possible. That we got to within a Pantillimon header of salvaging a draw is to the immense credit of a so-called bunch of mercenaries.

A dangerous tackle doesn't have to break a leg to be dangerous, Nani got out of the way to save his ankles, that doesn't make Kompany any less reckless.

It's great that you are so overwhelmed despite the defeat but there's no "so called" about it. You had to pay them well over the market rate in order to get them to play for your no mark club - so they are textbook mercenaries.

Most teams would have gone on to lose 6-1. The fact they nearly got a replay was testiment to how well City played second half, and how Utd foolishly took their foot off.

City were there for the taking and had Utd carried on hammering them in the second half we could have put the 6-1 to bed, but alas we let City get back in.
