yeah, I've posted a couple of bargain forum prices for it with little to no response which surprised me! I get the impression PC gamers are in limited supply around these parts.
You get so much stuff in the retail versions of Witcher though! :o
The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings game
Making of Video DVD
Official Soundtrack
World Map
Game Manual and Game Guide
Pamphlet and Cursed Coin
2 x Papercraft Figures of Various Game Characters
I had to restore my PC (due to somehow ******* it up so it wouldn't load windows) but was unable to save my save games from the first game Means I have to start it again and I want to finish that before moving on to Witcher 2. TW2 does look stunning though, even my old hardware should be able to run it on medium settings and still look pretty good I hope.
For anyone that's not played The Witcher, GOG will be selling it from next tuesday for $5 for a limited time (I think it's May 10th - May 17th, W2's release date). Think I'll definitely repurchase it, I only have the retail version which has TAGES on it and even though that's deactivated via the 1.5 patch having a completely DRM free copy for that cheap price is well worth it. I'll also be buying TW2 from there since all the money goes to CD Projekt.
Picked the first one and this up for around 30quid from GOG last night. The preload for The Witcher 2 is now live also, it's around 9 or so gigs and it downloads most of it apart from the last 100megs which will finish next friday.
I have the retail copy (which I added a shortcut to Steam) but it has that horrible TAGES on it and even though the patch for 1.5 deactivates it for 2 - 3 quid I'll happily take a DRM free, already patched up version from GOG.
I am actually tempted by this. Played the first years ago, not sure if my aging rig will cope with it though. What is the reccomeded and min specs please?
Didn't have time to finish off the download from GOG this morning so will do so when I get home from work tonight. Be interesting to see how it runs on my Q6600 and 512MB Radeon 4850 (and 4 gigs RAM). I reckon I'll get a half decent framerate on medium, will see how it handles on high. At least it should be playable.
I upgraded recently from an 8800gt to an ati 6850 (which is as high as my Dell PSU will take) and it seems to run it well enough on High (with SSAO manually disabled cause it canes graphics performance without making anything look different imo. :P ) The intro has over 30fps and the opening scene was in the 50's.
As for the DRM on retail... it's pretty forgiving. After you activate it, it tells you that you have an unlimited licence to install it on as many computers as you want as often as you want! Why did they even put DRM in? lol
