Quite like the new Noel single. Even if it does sound like Plastic Bertrand.
I really like it and its markedly different for him which is good. It almost goes a bit Ricky Martin, She Bangs at one point too but side-steps away from it nicely.
A lot of the comments I've seen on other forums about the Liam stuff is that its exactly what fans of Oasis wanted whilst Noel's solo output since he left has been utter bobbins.
Have new albums from Robert Plant, Beck & St Vincent to listen to tonight.
I find Liam Gallagher very annoying and possibly don't like his Beady Eye will due to the bloke from Rides writing contribution. It might also be why I'm not keen on the latter Oasis albums. Have to say I'm really enjoying his new solo album, no bloke from Ride writing, and possibly the main reason I'm enjoying it so much....most of the tracks have vocal performances that sound nothing like Liam.
A strong contender for my album of the year is somewhat surprisingly The Sparks 'Hippopotamus'....a quite brilliant album
Robert Plant - Folky, morphed into background music. Hopefully a grower
Beck - Smacks of a collection of tracks written over the last few years, produced and remixed to fit the albums brief. Far too poppy and somewhat underwhelming.
St Vincent - Incredibly commercial in parts but not to the albums detriment. Sounds like she is having fun and has released an album that I know I'll be listening to a hell of a lot.
I've never really taken to LCD...Ive only heard their debut before. Loved what I heard them play on Jools so bought the new album. Bloody excellent it is too!
Disappointed with a few albums by artists that I like (Beck, War On Drugs, Foo Fighters), but I made a real discovery this weekend: The Barr Brothers new album Queens of the Breakers is superb; an album of the year contender.
EDIT: Been listening to this album a lot this week, and it just gets better with every listen. No surpise to see that they're supporting War On Drugs on their current European tour. Like Lost in the Dream, Queens of the Breakers layers multiple instrumental soundscapes together to produce a wonderful combination; dreamy melodies in some places, hard rocking in others. Definitely album of the year for me.

Enjoying The Decemberists' new album, I'll Be Your Girl.
They've added a modern sheen to their production this time, but the best track is the stunning "Rusalka, Rusalka / The Wild Rushes" - another fine example of their multi-part songs that mixes Russian folklore and jaunty Irish jig.

Really enjoying the From the Fires EP by Greta Van Fleet.
A classic rock band who, remarkably, are led by 21-year old twins and their 18 year-old brother, plus their 18-year old friend!
The EP has 8 songs, including 2 brilliant covers, and their debut album is due this year.

2018 seems to be the year that I'm rediscovering music and clicking with new things. I think I'm also mellowing too, I'm listening to a lot more chilled stuff compared to the noisy rock I grew up with!

Jade Bird - British singer/songwriter. First EP was folky stuff, newest single is a more more upbeat and driving song. Excellent voice when she belts it out.
Jagara - three sisters making chilled electronica with a funky R&B influence, not neglecting catchy melodies and choruses.
Elise Trouw - taken the internet by storm with her looping videos, she's an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist making jazz infused indie pop. Gorgeous sultry voice and ridiculously young talent.
The Regrettes - female-fronted teenage punk rock mixed with 60's doo-wop.
Daniel Johns (of Silverchair) and Luke Steele (of Empire of the Sun) have joined together to create a band called DREAMS. I'm still undecided on whether its any good, but it's weird sparse experimental electronic/dance.
Also had A Perfect Circle's new album on repeat, along with First Aid Kit. The above mentioned Greta Van Fleet are also impressing me, even though they sound like they want to be Led Zeppelin so much that they don't really have their own identity.

Whether Solo turns out to be a hit or not I’m glad he’s starting to make waves based on his music and tV work. I really liked his debut album and he’s had some strong tracks from his subsequent Lbums.
Atlanta has been fantastic this season and his stint on SNL was quite good too.
It’s refreshing to see something intelligent, thought provoking and experimental and not some ‘look at me’ Kanye bilge.
