Can't remember if that was cheaper than the v1-v2 price or not.

They kept that quiet, I've been really impressed with the beta and think I'll pick this up. It does 99% of what I want and for the rest I'll just get a bit creative.

Excellent news. I'll be downloading the upgrade pretty soon. I keep hearing about the enhanced Noise Reduction, vignette and grain features and I really liked the beta back when I tried it.

As soon as I've completed the back up of my disks and catalogues, I shall be upgrading... just in case.

Good price for the upgrade. When (...if!) I get a job I may make the move from LR1... after trying the demo of course.

Seriuosly, kudos to Adobe for getting the maths right. Not as good as the last upgrade which was a steal for me at $99 when it was 2:1

but hopefully a sign of things to come.

Does anyone know if the boxed version includes any manuals for using the software or is it simply a cardboard box containing a disc?

Seems silly that it costs more for the digital download than it does to have the boxed version shipped to you.

I'd assume it would have some manuals with it, but you're right - I've never been able to understand why the download version costs more

The PS CS4 box just had a registration card and couple of flyers, no manuals.

I'm ordering the box, always like to have a physical version of the important software.

If it's the same as version 2 then it's just the disc in a DVD case in a cardboard box.

It is marginally more expensive to have the disc once delivery is added on.

Totally agree. It should be �15 or so less. Can you imagine how much it would save Adobe in operating costs if most people downloaded? They're not even passing a bit of that on...

To be fair there's probably not much in it, box and postage probably only amounts to a couple of quid which will pale into insignificance when compared to the cost of keeping a rack full of servers ticking over 24/7 and the bandwidth to pump out all the downloads. They probably should have made them the same cost as being a few quid more for download looks daft. Actually they should have just had a tick box asking if you wanted a physical copy posting out and you get both.

But they're already probably footing that bill for the servers, as I'm certain that a lot of people will download a 30 day trial before buying the full product, and there's no difference in file size. You should also bear in mind that its not just postage and packaging, but also the admin side of such an operation - employing admin people, etc.

Well, I decided just to go for the digital download. Just over �66 in total (the benefit of working for a University) and the whole process of verifying my employment status took no more than about 10 mins. I was quite impressed!

Unfortunately, after having imported over 29K photos (going back to 2003 and my old Fujifilm digital camera!) and starting the process of tagging some of them, Lightroom crashed back to the desktop! Arghhh!! Fingers crossed that is was a one-off....
