This is much more for the football thread but the problem is all clubs have the stupid idea they can be the next Wimbledon or a club that rises from obscurity to the top. Not going to happen these days with the money in PL. However they need to say all clubs below football league stay fully amateur.
In sine respects a franchise model is a better idea but that's more at Championship level to stop the likes of Leeds or Nottingham Forest and other clubs who bankrupt themselves with the dream of PL.
However back to Sky I do think they realised they overpaid in the last PL deal. Will be interesting to see if BT do throw the cash at the next rights deal. I am not sure how many of their customers would stick with an extra £10pm just for PL as they tend to be those looking for lower cost TV or sport compared to Sky or Virgin.

The premier league sucks and Sky's money is ruining the rest of football.
anyone who praises the franchise model should stick to American sports.

Just had a message from my mate who's a big boxing fan. For the McGregor v Mayweather fight, Sky are rumoured to be charging £89.99 for it if you have the full Sports package, or £129.99 of you don't!
Are they on crack or something?!!!

That's just for private homes too. The pubs will be paying several hundred pounds to show it.

I imagine most people will just go to a pub to watch it if those prices are to be believed.

It's already been confirmed that US fans will have to pay $99.95 to watch it in HD. Which is nearly £80.

The Official Sky HD Thread and FAQ
Will pubs be open at that hour?
(I don't drink so I have no idea)

Yeah but that kind of pricing is fairly common in the US.

Wasn't watching it at £20, but vaguely interested in the outcome. £90 is a joke

It wouldn't surprise me if Sky have leaked the prices themselves in order to guage reaction.

Unsurprisingly this is £19.95 on Sky.
I still won't be buying it though
