Which is ironic as the biggest uk cinema chains are set to boycott the film. The Daily Mail with have a field day with the waste of licence fee payers money on that one.

The only additional info is that the "feel" of the show is its own and very different to Davies' era, so hope remains!

I think 'set' might be too strong at the moment, but they are saying that they 'MAY' boycott the film.
Cineworld is still promoting the film and looks set to show it:
Quote:
an LA Times report today suggests that Vue and Odeon, two of the UK's three major cinema chains, remain undecided over whether to show the film. Disney has reached a deal with a third major chain, Cineworld, according to the newspaper. Industry insiders are said to be split over whether European anger will spread to the US or blow over before Alice in Wonderland's release on March 5: No American chain has yet threatened to boycott the film, although some have said they will pull it from screens once it hits the home video market.
|
If they do Vue & Odeon face either losing a lot of potential income to them or showing the film.
If Alice has positive feedback from reviews and looks like its going to be a big blockbuster, the cinema chains will back down rather than lose money.
If it gets average or less reviews then Disney will come to some sort of compromise so it can be shown.
Disney plan to do this with most of its films so I reckon the cinema chains will back down or they migh compromise at 15 weeks.
At the end of the day money will do the talking and I cant see them turning down this or more importantly the big cash cow of Toy Story 3 latter in the year. After all 12 weeks of a Blockbusters money is a lot better than none.
EDIT - I appear to gone off track form Who here sorry!

That was pretty terrible, is it my imagination or was it all a bit 'Twilight'?

It was all a bit Children's BBC, Children's Television Workshop, which does give credence to the idea that they've gone for a younger doctor to target a younger audience. But maybe the internet just made it look cheap....

Great stuff I enjoyed that. Magical.
Matt Smith seemed ok as well, as brief as his dialogue was.

Be harder for that to look worse, good lord.
Also the new assistant is making me feel like a dirty old man, she looks about 15.

This is always the reaction when a actor takes over. Give it time.

Yeah that was awful, but at least it was a bespoke trailer and not necessaries indicative of the quality of the actual show itself (I hope).

It didn't really show much other than hint at a potential dynamic between the two leads, which judging from that looks promising. It's still early days but I have a feeling I'm going to prefer Smith to Tennant.

Yeah, I'm already warming to Smith's excitable geek Doctor and was never really a fan of Tennant's take on him.
As for the trailer, it was obviously just there for some "pop" in cinemas and if Auntie had already spent the money on it, it would be foolish of them not to show it in TV too. It whetted the appetite - I personally can't wait for the new series to begin (I never looked forward to any of the Tennant stuff this much!)

I think for me it will come down to if he can balance the "excitable geek" as mentioned above and with the parts where it's time to stop joking around and do something before the world ends. I really looked forward to Tenant taking over as The Doctor but always found myself thinking he was just playing it for laughs.
Of course that could just be because no matter how bad things looked for the world it was always obvious that one wave of the sonic screwdriver would fix it all.
At the end of the day we'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out come easter.
