Talk Talk Broadband

I am considering using Talk Talk broadband as it will work out a lot cheaper than my current provider, Nildram. What are your opinions on talk Talk with regards to speed, reliability, support etc.

I have TalkTalk and it's fine - no more or less reliable than when I was with BT - found the helpdesk guys to be alright and as I upgraded to MaxADSL as a result of moving from BT I got double the speed too. This is all on an unbundled line.

On the flip side, I was with them for a month and it's easily the worst internet service I've ever experienced. Most days, I couldn't get online at all. And it was a nightmare cancelling. I would avoid.

my uncle has had a nightmare, 2 months with them so far and he cant get online 99% of the time, when he can its dial up speeds.

when he calls support they blaime it on the weather (even when its good weather), microfilters, cables, modem you name it its that. the latest is to get a wireless router that will fix it apparently! of course it wont!

My mate went for Talk Talk against my better judgment and he is always having disconnections. It took them 2 months to get him activated.

I went with Be Internet. �14 for 8 megs with unlimited downloads.

Its fine for me. Speedy and reliable, but mind, i was with Orange before hand so perhaps its just good comparatively. For free broadband, its Ok but the real test is how good they are at solving problems, and as i've not really had any, I cant comment. *touches wood*

Been with them for 2 days now, connection speed is around about 2.5mb. Email server is a little slow though, emails take around 30 mins to come in.

a colleague is with them and has constant failures to connect and drop outs - when he calls them the general response he gets is "what do you want for a free service?".

I would avoid Talktalk. If it works it can be ok but if you ever get problems you will find their technical support in India to be useless.

My dad use to be with Talktalk and it was fine at the beginning but then they decided to change his line to their LLU and it never worked after that. He phoned the techincal support guys many times but they didn't have a clue. Eventually after two months without broadband he canceled the line and moved to bt and sky.

My cousin also had the same problem when they switched him to LLU but he founded it worked again after a month.

I'm with them at the moment but I've got fed up with them as it keeps disconnecting and sometimes you can't connect. I'm moving back to a BT reseller for the phone and ADSL24.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I should stay away from them.

Could I also ask for recommendations for alternative broadband suppliers, I need a reliable supplier, speeds of between 2 - 8mb/s. I download about a maximum of 5GB / month. A bonus would be a package including free local/national phone calls.

My Brother is with Talk Talk and apart from a couple of times when he couldn't get connected he hasn't had to many problems with them.

Found another provider MADASAFISH who have some reasonable reviews. Anyone know anything about this company?

They're powered by Brightview, who I think were recently acquired by BT.

another vote for adsl24. Been with them for longer than any previous supplier (which for me is something), consistantly fast speeds, local number support. 30gb peak, 300gb off peak for �20 a month and a month to month contract.

g/f's father has just signed up with these, popped across to sort out problems as they coul;dn't get online and the security software (which is free for 3 months so they thought why not I'll click yes

then you pay) had stuffed up the firewall already on valid for another 11 months or so...

got them online less than a meg d/l, though i think they are quite away from the exchange and can only ge tup to 2mb...

made a right mess. got them online but have borught it back to do a complete reinstall of windows etc.

not a good start.
