Not much chance of that happening as he plays for Mali

I agree with you, he isnt good enough for a top team(not meaning to sound patronising), but he has put in some decent performances for us at times and I hope he does well there. Of course he has also put in some really bad performances, but maybe under less pressure at Charlton, this wont be the case.

I think Traore is young enough that he could still fulfil the potential that brought him to Anfield. He has good pace and a good tackle on him , he works hard in isn't afraid to go forward and overlap- all he needs to work on is his positional sense and much more importantly his concentration levels as this is what has cost him during his bad performances. Good luck to him.

I like our club because we our different. We may not be able to compete financially with Chelsea and manure, but we're doing pretty well football wise.
If the right deal comes along which will preserve everything that is great about our club and allows us to compete financially then great - but I would far rather we kept some semblance of what made us great in the first place.
Who cares if we're not spending billions, and buying players just to stop other clubs getting them? The truly great players who want to play for us still will.
Who was a better deal? SWP for 25m? Or Alonso for 12?
Who would you rather have playing for our club?
I don't want a group of mercenaries coming to us because we have the most money.
Sorry, but it just seems there's a lot of moaners around. Everyone was moaning about Houllier, now he's gone they've only got the board to moan about.
Nothing personal, it just pees me off.

I never said they should sell the club to him, I just said it would have been nice for some money to come into the club. And the Craft family aren't exactly mercenaries.

All the best to Djimi. He had many good performances during the champion's league winning run.
Any news on Dirk Kuyt?

Yep - all the best Djimi.
Much derided for the Burnley own goal - but he also scored a screamer at the other end in a European tie once. And lets not forget the goal line clearance at 3-3 in Istanbul.

The talk seems to be be a good win tonight will see the CL Money released for a Kuyt bid instead of waiting for the result of the overall tie.

The independent this morning was saying we have to qualify as the money used for Bellamy and Pennant was from future CL earnings. But they also did say Rafa is preparing a bid for Kuyt.

Shows what a joke the story is then IMO.
If the first bit is true then we don't have any money for Kuyt (unless he's available for Djimi's £2M !!!). Pennant and Bellamy cost approx. £12M - winnning the CL Qualifier doesn't even guarantee that amount of money.
Personally, I strongly believe that all these "Liverpool are skint" stories are completely unfounded.

I can't believe LFC is a poor club, I reckon it's more a case of "once bitten twice shy." Unfortunately, Houllier was given a lot of cash for players who just didn't shape up to the task and the board obviously don't want to carry on paying over the odds for the next Zidane Also, at a time when they are (still ) trying to secure funding for a new stadium, they can't be seen to be throwing money around speculatively. At the end of the day, when Rafa has been 100% sure about the players and the selling club hasn't been trying it on we've had the money and the deals have been done (Xabi, Momo, Reina, Crouch, Morientes)

According to The telegraph a very conservative team for tonight.
Reina
Finnan - Carragher - Hyypia - Riise
Gerrard - Sissoko - Alonso - Zenden
Crouch - Bellamy.
Interesting if true. I know that Agger, Fowler, and Aurellio are injured - but no Pennant?
That makes it look like Gerrard on the right.

Has that Elisha Scott posted what the team will be?
He's normally very accurate.

That is the team I predicted for tonight bar Gonzalez rather than Zenden (but apparantly speedy has a small knock.) What did you expect, for either Alonso or Momo to be left out to accomodate Pennant?
What's happening with Kewell? He'd have been next in line to play on the left after Gonzalez.

Is Kewell not still recovering from his World Cup injury? It will actually be interesting to see what level Zenden is at considering he had pretty much all of last season injured.

As AndyPearce says, what else did you expect ??
Given the injuries to Gonzalez, Kewell and Aurelio that is pretty much Liverpool's best team.

I don't even need to look that one up...
He'll be injured. Ruptured or snapped something or other...probably.
