What a signing Aurelio is. I've seen him play quite a few times, and he looks absolute class. On a free transfer too. Mental.
I presume once Carlos retires, the left-back position for Brazil will be Aurelio's, though he didn't goto the WC did he?

So is the Alves deal dead then? Simao is being linked with us in the Indo today although they have put £12m which is more than Alves.
The Independent have a list of 10 players who are supposed to be heading to the Prem after the WC. The ones they have linked to LFC
Fernando Torres - I doubt we could afford him and he is apparently asking for a huge salary. I would expect him in the Prem next season as he has said he wont play for another Spanish team after leaving Athletico. Strongly linking him to Manu and that a deal has already been done.
Simao Sabrosa - As above £12m seems a lot for a player we were willing to only pay £8m for last season.
Dirk Kuyt - Want CL football so it's LFC or Arsenal in the Prem. Indo is saying he will probably end up in Spain.
Hatem Trabelsi - Apparently it's a done deal for him to sign for LFC on a free. So he could be a decent option if the Alves deal is dead.
If ManU also get Masherano whom they have been linked with and Petit and Torres. Would be a decent summer for them.

Torres at £20m+ is way overpriced anyway.
Trabelsi apparently has a shot to bits knee - some say he has already failed a medical for us
Simao at £6/7m is a good deal - at £12m is a crap deal
Kuyt at £8m will be a good deal I reckon
I've given up trying to keep up with our transfer dealings. I'll just wait till the news hits Liverpool's website now!

The club should get a move on and ship out some more players. The squad will be huge at this rate.

If he signs, and we get another forward we are sorted for a go at the title!!!

finding takers is the problem-diao for example wouldn't command anywhere near his current salary so he'll hang around till his contracts up.

I think the replacement left back is Gilberto...
But Aurelio will find it easier to displace him then Carlos.

I recall some firm stories that he had flown in for talks so maybe there is some truth in this

Incidently, i think Trabelsi's knee should be fine, he was playing for Tunisia with no problem

Problem with Ribery is his past - 23 years old and already had 6 different clubs. That just isn't good and usually means he either struggles to adapt to anywhere or is just a **** in the dressing room. For that sort of fee, that makes him a very risky purchase.

Ribery is staying in france, most of his other clubs were loan spells too, not unusual for an upcoming young player
United came VERY close to getting a deal for ribery at about 12 million, but the player wants to stay in france.
I agree, he'll end up at the rent boys eventually
