It was Terry Nation himself who used to negotiate the use of the Daleks in Doctor Who before his Death, one of the big things he negociated was the use of Davros. How many Dalek stories are there not including (Dalek) to show Davros.I can only assume that the nation negoiatiors would abide by Terry Nation wishes and have Davros in this episode. You are correct about the Emperor or Black Dalek but Remember Davros is the creator of the Daleks and he did escape the destruction of the Dalek mother ship in - Rememberance of the Daleks.

Plus the Beeb used to hide that davros was in episodes. Remember terry Mollay used to be Davros and sometimes his name was used as an anagram so fans didnt know Davros would be in it. But he always was.

The Daleks have been used by themselves many times in the Big Finish audio dramas (Of which the Nation estate has script approval) without Davros. The voice at the end of the preview sounded like the Emperor Dalek to me. Of course that could still be a situation like the end of Remembrance of the Daleks.

Avoid the Internet!
Remain Pure - give it up for a week

This Saturday sees the biggest episode of Doctor Who ever, full of jaw-dropping surprises, amazing revelations and more Daleks than even you can imagine.

Up until now the episode's been kept an absolute secret - there were fake scripts, fake scenes were shot, and no preview tapes have been issued. It's such a secret that not even bbc.co.uk's Fear Forecasters have been allowed to see it.

But all that will change this week - publicity pictures will appear tomorrow, and there's a screening for the press on Wednesday, so stuff will leak out. Our best advice to you - STAY OFF THE INTERNET THIS WEEK!

Especially as bbc.co.uk is running a video teaser every day at noon. It's also shown on BBC One through the day, and at 8pm every night - so step firmly away from the television at those times.

You'll also be missing out on changes to our spin-off sites such as www.badwolf.org.uk, and one or two special treats on bbc.co.uk. Avoid them - they're only there to lead you into temptation.

So - we'll see you on Saturday evening after the last episode of Doctor Who Confidential (which contains a few surprises of its own).

We'll miss you, but it's for your own good.

One point I've been meaning to make for weeks now is just how well the BBC understand how the Net can be used to promote a show. Their work on the main Who site has been among the best I've seen and the plethora of associated sites (with the sole exception of Geocomtex which is pretty badly designed) have been nothing less than superb "easter eggs".

Congrats to all involved; I hope it nets (ho ho) you the award you so richly deserve.

I don't see what the need is for an advanced press screening. Journalists are gonna write about the episode whether they have seen it in advance or not and it's not as if the BBC need to do this to generate publicity for the episode, Doctor Who is everywhere already! It can only lead to people giving things away.

Sadly Davros was an over-used cliche (didn't help that he got more comical as time went by with Remembrance being truly cringing to watch ). I really hope it's not him this time but I'm betting on a fairly high probability that it will be .

The Daleks have always been at their best when they do things for themselves, and that includes Genesis of the Daleks (i.e. they shoot Davros and go it alone because they no longer need him... truly evil. Davros should have stayed dead at that point).

Just watched the episode (avoiding the teaser trailer for next week) and read through this thread. Now that's what I call entertainment!
Captain Jack is such a tart. If he's as amoral as he's made out to be I'm surprised he didn't keep a spare spaceship in with his compact laser delux.

I'm right fired up now.

I think davros, doubt it'll be the emperor dalek not mainstream enought, how many viewers are going to be familiar with a chacter who really only reigned in 1968?

And also the Emperor Dalek is just a dalek. Where's the wow factor in that for people who haven't been listening to Big Finish audios? Unless of course the dalek from "Dalek" went on to become the Emperor Dalek...

The wow factor? We haven't seen what it will look like yet. The Doctors eyeline was looking at something at least 10 feet tall.

Or an oompa loompa on a pedestal

What I meant was that the sequence seems to suggest something more significant than another (all be it bigger/sexier) dalek.

I think it's that Adam guy...

He'll be bitter at being left on earth knowing what's going to happen in the future. He's also seen the Dalek's.

He was also around the first time the doctor was there and shut down the initial space station.

And from the pictures I've seen isn't Davros blind with a 3rd eye? Could be that data connection in the center of his head...

I'm no expert and am going purely from what i've seen this season.

I'm not so sure if it can be Adam - the Doctor said in 'The Long Game' that the progress of the human race had essentially come to a stop nearly a century ago when the station was first built (before Adam even first arrived there), and we still don't know what caused that.

Of course, it could still be Adam in next weeks episode, but it doesn't make sense for him to have been the one that interfered with the progress of humanity (since what happened to him was because of the interference) - so I doubt he's the 'Bad Wolf'.
