Not seen Picasa mentioned in this thread. From Google, it is an excellent piece of freeware for cataloguing images.
Quote:
Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organized.

Cheers Whiting. Again DVDs or CDs burned on Picasa will only display on a PC not a regular DVD player/TV.

Yeah, sorry, it was a general post and not a reply to your original question (although you did jog my memory about it )

Does anyone know anything about photo-slideshow? Is there anyway to tell if a piece of software is safe to download?
Cheers.

A quick run through download.com's entries pulls back HD Picture Album. It's free - might be worth a shot. [ download.com link ]

Nero allows you to drag jpegs into the video cd section, then you choose the pause between each photo and it creates a photo vcd!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm using it now with the iTunes Bar widget. The mini-player is much better than the iTunes one, more like the Winamp version, and it is cool to have album artwork displayed on the desktop

Do you get the Album artwork "live" or do you have to download each one beforehand?

I'm not sure, I haven't looked into it that much yet as I already had artwork for all the tracks I've played so far since I installed the widget. I know a similiar widget, iTunes Companion can fetch artwork from Amazon for you, and I think add the information to your iTunes library.

Also I find accessing Yahoo can be sluggish and temperamental sometimes and I suspect accessing via their APIs would be similar if it's their servers at fault. Google's servers are most of the time incredibly responsive.
Still, I'll give it another look. I removed it before because of the pay nag and I found although the widgets looked pretty I had no real use for them and they consumed resources.

Decent little file comparison and backup app I found a little while back.
Good for backing data to another disc without having to copy the lot all the time
