Neverware Cloudready - Chrome OS / DIY Chromebook

CloudReady turns almost any computer into a Chrome device.
Whether you’re a business, a school, or a home user, CloudReady OS is the fast, easy way to convert your hardware to the security and manageability of Google's Chrome ecosystem.
Anyone else tried this?

My Dad has an HP Stream 14 with 32GB eMMC storage which is a nightmare when it comes to Windows 10 and the OS refreshes / feature updates they do. Not enough space and tragically slow storage type. Not helped on the 1903 update earlier this year when there was a known issue preventing you from using external storage to aid the installation.

All he uses it for is web browsing so I decided to have another look at Chrome OS and this was the first thing that popped up.

First impressions are - it's brilliant!

The HP Stream 14 is a 'certified model' and installation was quick and easy. Created the USB installer, made a few BIOS option changes as detailed on their site and less than 20 minutes later I was in a fully working Chrome OS that runs very smoothly so far.

The only hardware compatibility issue is that the battery indicator is stuck on 'calculating time' so it doesn't give time remaining in hours/mins. The percentage figure is working correctly though. For the HP Stream 14 their site does mention something about this (specifically it mentions a lack of 'time remaining' when charging, but this is largely the same issue).
