I didn't mind Vernon, Dermot etc.... It was in the later years that they had the presenters that you wouldn't have got tired of slapping.

Doesn't that describe Vernon too?! The current crop (and I include that great 21st century mystery Nick Grimshaw) look like the producers took a van down to Shoreditch and pressganged the drunks in the gutter.
