a fair review of an average film. i didn't go in with high hopes and i wasn't disappointed

A decent review, although I'd be careful about stating facts about things you haven't (or had no compulsion to think about), i.e. plot holes.

There are several in this film, but the majority can be explained away by a mixture of common sense and creative thought.

Kate was recruited because she was a friend of Adam who had worked with Dr Sander for at least 3 years. He was adament about secrecy therefore wanted a paleontologist he could trust, ergo went to a friend of his colleague.

That's what I thought too. I'm not aiming this comment at Gavin's review per se, but all too often people seize upon plot 'holes' and don't seem to be able to rationalise the simplest of answers; Red Letter Media's dreadful 'reviews' are a case in point.

Yep, fair point - though it still seems a bit of a stretch to me. But it wasn't intended as a major criticism of the film.

Of course not - how absurd. It just seems more logical to me that if you're a Norwegian scientist running a Norwegian-funded station staffed with Norwegians, would not your first instinct be to hire someone who would be able to adapt and fit in quite easily/quickly - like, say, another Norwegian? To say nothing of the much reduced paperwork that would surely be involved. But, as I said, it's not a major criticism of the script, just a bit of a stretch; one which you quite rightly pointed out was briefly explained near the beginning and which somehow escaped my brain by the time the film finished.
