Just finished this and that's exactly the way I feel about it. It needed to end about 50 pages before it did. Much preferred Angels & Demons and the Davinci Code although as with most I thought the A&D book was better than the film equivalent but the TDVC film was better then the book. Not sure how well this will translate to a film.

It was enjoyable in places and it did spike my interest in Washington DC.

Just read his latest one "Origin"

It sped along as they always do, it just never really went anywhere. The big reveal was a little dull, not as groundbreaking as they made out, and the evil baddies never seemed to be involved at all.

In really like his books normally, but felt a bit cheated with one

The big reveal was a complete "Oh, is that it?" moment & it made no sense to me that anyone would kill over it.


Found it in a charity shop & someone had written in biro on the inside cover; 'DRIVEL'.

Couldn't agree more. Was tempted to ask for my 50p back.

I re read this one over lockdown and had to look up what it was about (I confused this abd inferno)
I’ll probably manage another re read soon as I enjoy them yet forget the plot very quickly!

Yep I actually kept reading just to see what the big reveal would be and it was a real anticlimax. I can't imagine many religious leaders even caring that much.

I read it last year and enjoyed it, but I suppose a lot of that was that I’d been to a lot of the locations featured over the last few years.

I want to go to Washington (never been) and follow his story there. (Lost symbol! The title of this thread) but maybe without the running and pointing abd discussing politics or religious theory on the way.

I like his books as I feel I learn something on the way (even if I then forget it)

Sagrada Familia? Yes, amazing place. Also been to the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Madrid a couple of times. Wasn’t there a mention of a bombing at the cathedral in Seville? Also been there as well.
