They have Calvin and Hobbs and love it. Any other recommendations? it doesn't have to be humorous just anything suitable for that age group for a boy a girl or both.
The Phoenix comic. A brilliant weekly kids comic with a good mix of action and funny stories. The best strips are collected as graphic novels. There's also some best of books.
Bunny v monkey and the emperor penguin are my, eerrr my kids favourite.

Dilbert: it's mostly office humor, and Scott Adams' political and other views have gotten increasingly rancid (and are sometimes expressed in the strip). I say skip this one.
Instead of Dilbert, I would recommend Pearls Before Swine. Bill Watterson is a fan, and I think it would appeal to 12-year-olds too.
Also, there's Bone, and the classic Donald Duck/Scrooge McDuck comics, particularly by Carl Barks and Don Rosa.

Agreed. Have moved away from Dilbert after many years as a result.
What about the good ol' Beano? It's online only now I believe.
As a dilbery lover who rarely looks at the strip these days (bought about the first 4 or 5 collections) do you have any examples of his heinous political views? Curious if I agree or not, my politics are left wing so may agree with him.
And a misogynist. He also promotes all sorts of superstitions and nutjob ideas, though to be fair, some of the greatest comic authors alive literally believe in magic.
