Watched this via amazon last night. Wish I hadn't bothered - awful, awful movie.

There's a really distasteful element to this that didn't properly dawn on me until some time after I'd seen it.

I genuinely was so confused as to what was going I did not realise that is what happened. Makes the ending a bit dark too!

I was overall disappointed.
It was as if they decided that Chris Pine doing a montage of 80's fashion would be funny, and built the film around it. The whole thing didn't really go anywhere and was just silly by the end.
It's a real shame, they started the series in WWII, they literally had nearly 40 years to set a film, why jump so far forward?
What was Chris Pine even doing back?? 40 years on and still misses her boyfriend.

The 80s setting didn't seem to serve any purpose?

80's setting was to cash in on the nostalgia wave. You could make it set in the 90's and it would be just the same story

That's what I mean, it ultimately added nothing to the story.

I couldn't remember, it was of course WWI. It would have been nice to see WW influence real world events as she did in the first film. Could have had loads of decent adventures, WWII, Cold War, etc.
But yeh, a few 80's fashion jokes. Seemed to be the only purpose

I watched this on the evidence of the trailer. Seems like lots of action, Quite funny and has a great soundtrack. Unfortunately it had none of these.

Also thought a few of the effects shots were a bit poor, notably her swinging around in the shopping mall. Looked like a computer game
