And have you seen the price of it now; risen overnight at dvdsoon from $29.98 to $43.98...

EDIT - sanity has returned, price-wise...

Cheaper than the WB box. About 15 notes.

I received my set from Soon yesterday, with a shipping notice on the 28th.
Why they sometimes obviously state shipping after they've actually shipped seems a bit weird, unless there is a lag in information from their warehouse/supplier to the accounts administration.

Got my set from Soon today - first impressions are favourable. The box itself is made of a good sturdy cardboard - similar to the Indy/LOTR cases if that makes sense. Much better than the pathetic, flimsy cardboard effort given to us by Warner's for their Scorsese box set.

The gatefold packaging for Raging Bull is also excellent. Had a brief look at the film as well and it looks gorgeous; admittedly this is on a 32" w/s tv, so whether you guys with plasma screens and projectors will feel the same...well, I hope so.

Haven't seen the other three films at all - to be honest, none of them excite me either! Having said that, there were two big surprises for me in the Warner's set (After Hours and Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, which I both enjoyed immensely) so I will give them a go.

Mr Scorsese came to stay at the Hodson household today (but Messrs Bogart, Cagney and Robinson - who left Canadian shores before Mr Scorsese - have been detained at Her Majesty's pleasure I fear...)

Raging Bull looks an absolute peach...

Mine too.....set looks excellent, watched the Raging Bull bonus disc today.....4 new shorts add up to a very interesting 1hr 25min doc, 3 commentaries to dig into now.. At last it gets the treatment it deserves!

Almost the same here, except Messrs Bogart, Cagney and Robinson et all arrived also, sans any imperial entanglements.

Today was a good DVD day.

With the exception of his shorts and documentaries (and The Aviator) yes, I believe so.

Could someone who's seen the New York New York disc comment on the picture quality, please ? Glenn Erikson (DVD Savant) isn't too impressed but a lot of the better critic/reviewers - of which Savant is one - view DVDs on those massive HT set-ups which magnify tiny blemishes. I would rather rely on a DVD Times' threadster's opinion.

On my 32" ws it looks fine after a quick run through; a little soft, but no more so than many other films of this vintage. The biggest crime, one MGM keeps committing, is the lack of anamorphic enhancement.

Thanks, John, much obliged and I'll probably plump for a copy seeing that it's going for about Ł6 from the useful dvd.imports site.
