Grinderman - Warm up gig in Brighton on 2nd July

Anyone else heard this fantastic new band. There is one song on their Myspace site http://www.myspace.com/grinderman

Absolutely awesome.

The voice sounds familiar though

I've changed the title now to see if the mention of Mr Cave increases the interest in this thread. There were only 13 views before.

Sounds good. Love the bass and guitar - works well with Nick's voice.

Was Warren Ellis in The Bad Seeds? I know they worked together on The Proposition.

Warren Ellis has been in the Bad Seeds for a while. He's pretty damn good, saw him play with the Dirty Three and as part of Nick Cave's backing band during his solo tour and he was immense. Makes violin rock and roll. Dirty Three are a must see just for his between song banter...

This is worth a bump as there is a second track on MySpace. Awesome stuff and I hope they tour on the back of the album

Well as expected the albums completly ace.

More angry/seedy Bad seeds than Birthday Party but ace none the less.

Special mention has to go to the lyrics for Love Bomb. Only cave could make a lyric about listening to womans hour and gardners question time sleazy.

Really looking forward to this record, I'm a big fan of Nick Cave. The album is pretty cheap on Play.com
as well.
Did anyone see them on the Culture Show? What a prat that Zane Lowe is, but I almost felt sorry for him having to interview that lot!

No Pussy Blues is a real treat. It's like a Nick Cave vs Spacemen 3 vs Loop mash-up.

I've been listening to this laods this week and it is ace. My current fave is Depth Charge Ethel. I don't think it's likely to get a wide audience though as it is quite intense in places. Let's just hope they decide to do a few other shows after ATP.

Apart from been the best song on the album, I think it sounds like the Leftfield guiness advert (the one with the horses)

I grabbed this on Sunday. It's excellent. I'm looking forward to them at ATP for sure!

Love his reference to Gardeners' Question Time and Woman's Hour.
