Been to about a hundred gigs in the last five years and I'd say AUDIOSLAVE blew me away at the Glasgow Carling Academy which was only a month ago!

Have to have a think, but one of the top runners will be Brixton Academy: Ozzy Osbourne on the No More Tears tour with the sensational Zakk Wylde shredding and a superb supprt set from D.A.D with the drum kit set up on a huge sofa.

Budgie were my first too - in 1982 when they were one of the few to visit the IOW.

Best? Hmmm Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast in 1983 I'd say.

Just Awesome!

I saw them on that tour too. You are quite right -awesome. I also saw The Who twice in1975, and those shows take some beating.

Far too many to mention:

1st will always be special to me -

April 1992 - Carter USM / Family Cat / Frank & Walters at Gloucester Leisure Centre

15 years old, drunk on cheap cider and down the front like a lunatic, awesome introduction to live gigs.

but as for best it must be

April 1995 - Oasis / Pulp / Ocean Colour Scene at the Sheffield Arena.

Caught a coach from Birmingham up to Oasis' first ever arena date. Could only get seats so was a bit disapointed with that. Pulp supported after the Verve pulled out last minute. Jarvis walked past us in the bar. Oasis came on and 2 songs in Liam shouted "Come on you boring lot in the seats, come down here at the front"!! (or expletives to that effect)

There was then a massive surge towards the front with people climbing the barriers to get there. We swerved the security guards and jumped about 10 feet into the standing area, it was rammed but the atmosphere was amazing. It was Tony McCarroll's last gig for Oasis and the 1st time they played Don't Look Back in Anger.

Have seen many great festival line ups too, went to Reading in 93,94,95,96,97,99,2000 and the Phoenix Festival 1994 but the best was Glastonbury 95. Over that weekend I saw the following (in the height of Britpop)

Oasis
Elastica
Supergrass
Weezer
Offspring
The Verve
The Charlatans
Gene
Pulp
Dodgy
Sleeper
Shed 7
Ash
Menswear
Skunk Anansie
Dodgy

This years best gig was Oasis at the Coronet, support from the Champions League Final on the big screens. Electric atmosphere!

Been to some good uns.

The Stranglers - 2nd March 1990 Bradford St Georges Hall
Usually considered their worse tour but for me I thought it was fantastic. The place was rammed and the atmosphere was electric. They had to stop the gig at one point as a fight broke out on the balcony and it looked like someone was trying to throw a bouncer over the balcony - not good but the gig was great - Stage invasion at the end.

Manic Street Preachers - Leeds Town And Country Club (R.I.P) 1993
My first time seeing the Manics and what a gig. Right at the front for this one, hot, sweaty, in yer face and very loud. Great gig.

Joe Strummer Glastonbury 1999
Joe was in real rant mode with the cameras filming him at one point he jumped off the stage and smacked one of the cameras. The giant screens at the side of the stage filmed it perfectly and then the picture rolled when Stummer hit the camera. Cue Strummer ad-libbing about CCTV and a quality performance.

Many more but those few spring to mind immediately

I saw Sturmmer a few times and he never put on a poor show but the best for me were the two small shows he played at the 100 club as a Q award shows and the Charlotte in Leicester as a festival warm up
