Did sky+ start off as an expensive add on, I can't remember, I know I never paid for it

I think it was about £200 for the box, plus an extra £10 per month to get the recording facility.

Q about Q - at present we've got a TV upstairs with TV Link, which means we can watch recordings or live TV in the bedroom.

I know we can watch recordings in a different room with Q- but can we watch live tv in that other room? (assuming it's the same channel as the main Sky box)

You can watch whatever you want on the mini, it doesn't have to be the same channel as the main box.

Just a heads up that there is now a loyalty offer of £100 off Sky Q for customers who have had Sky for over 10 years.

Anyone who qualifies but has already got Q should ring them up as people are getting refunds. I've no idea if you would get refunded automatically.

Cool, is there a link to that?

I think you just ring them up and mention the 10 year loyalty offer, I read about it on the official sky forum. I've phoned them and we're getting a £100 refunded.

Question: can you have a Silver box in one room and basic box in another room, each with their own 5/4 inputs/storage? I would pay the extra if I could.

So...Sky Q Silver is going to cost me £1.50/month extra (full package, inc Sports & Movies), and £49 upfront cost...

Tempting!

Just had the offer emailed to me...

Hmm...So £50 would be worth it, just to upgrade the God awful Sr102.

Can you request a hybrid lnb for freesat?

Hopefully this'll be more affordable when my Virgin contract expires next year. I need an option to get away from their laggy piece of crap Tivo box and **** poor upload speeds.

Hmm, my Sky box is being a bit temperamental so the move to Sky Q is getting more and more tempting.

I know you get an 18 month contract...does that apply to broadband too?

I'm hoping we get Virgin installed in my area soon, and I'd rather that then Sky Q...

So does the mini box act as a completely independent box? It can record and watch things whilst the main box also does it's own thing?

Yeah, the only thing for multiple users is that you all share the same planner.

Cheers. Though that would be an issue as I'd want to have two different users each with their own stuff.

I haven't been on Sky for a while but I am pretty sure the basic package (less than 12 months ago) was about £28 - a lot less than the £42 basic Sky Q costs.

Don't see anything with Sky Q that would (a) tempt me back or (b), if I was still a customer, tempt to upgrade for a 50% price increase !!!

Silly question but would a combo of the Silver and mini boxes be thought of as 1 box? I ask as I have BT Sport (cos its free) but I can only watch it on the 1 box and not the multiroom. Would this issue go with Q?
