So Falcao's loan to Chelsea confirmed. Honestly amazed they went through with it given how shocking he was in the Copa America.

If he can't score at Chelsea with Febregas behind him then there won't need to be any more clarification about whether or not he's burnt out!

I don't really see how it works for him overall in pure playing terms, unless he genuinely thinks he can be first choice over Costa. For me, he needs to start regularly to have any chance of getting back to top form.

It must mean somebody is coming in otherwise he'd have stayed on surely?

Supposedly we're interested in Sakho which may not be a bad move. Only 25, has some pace and didn't have too bad a goal tally for his first season at West Ham... a team who don't really score that many.

I'll be really surprised if it's mega bucks spent on a forward given the plans to seemingly just have Rooney up top. I think most of the money is going to go toward sorting out the defence and a holding midfielder.

...hopefully we get it all sorted out over the weeked. I can't see LVG being happy if new signings aren't on the tour!

I did read a conspiracy theory somewhere that we won't sign anyone (marquee) until August the 1st (?) when the new Adidas deal starts, because they don't want them paraded out in Nike wear...

I honestly don't know what to think about this, is it an "Adidas" signing? , schweinsteiger of a couple of years ago yes, but now, not so sure

Valdes supposedly in discussions with antlespor (or whatever it is) and Rafael with Galatasary.

Has lindegard gone already? With Amos gone, if DDG goes we must be looking at 2 new keepers.

With several other players going, it's going to be a seriously slimmed down squad.

If we manage to get Schweinsteiger it would be an absolute master-class of a signing.

We've all been complaining about our midfield since Keane left...this guy is pretty much the best central midfielder in the world and has won everything.

Even if he only does a job for us for 2 years, it would be incredible to see him at OT.

I'll believe it when I see it though

Over at redcafe there is a flight tracking thread, any players that we are trying to sign are having their flights tracked inbound to Manchester they did it yesterday with the Italian lad. Muppets

The thing about signing him, is that it shows intent to other players. Maybe if we can bring in someone like Ramos, then players like DDG might honk its worth staying. More than that, we might start to attract the sort of players we've been missing out on for the last few years who end up at either Munich or Real or Barcelona. Or city and Chelsea.

It's great news, but I hope it doesn't mean that they aren't signing Schneiderlin. With the CL games, Carrick being a year older and the lack of expectation that Schweinsteiger will play every game, they still need him. I suppose the caveat on that might be if Daley Blind plays almost exclusively in the midfield and Shaw/Rojo/Young are the LB options it may be slightly less necessary, but I still think they need him, even if it is more for the medium term.

Still want to see a striker in though. Would it be mad to consider going for Ibrahimovic for a year or two?! Would give Wilson more time to develop.

I don't think that it will ultimately make a difference with DDG, as for him I think it is about being in his home country. Having said that, I think if the conditions were a little different I think he could be encouraged to stay for a bit longer.

With Fabregas, I think the timing was wrong anyway, but I think it was simply he wanted to be in London.

He's in the UK already though isn't he? He was at Wimbledon the other day!

Great signing imo. Can only strengthen the team.

With Casillas officially gone, I'm hoping everything is going to happen quickly on the De Gea / Ramos front.

Hopefully either get Ramos in a close to straight swap, or pay for him and keep De Gea for another year.
