One TV-hour of hanging out in the cheapest-looking sets imaginable, with characters alternating between recap exposition and stating their emotions ("I hate superpowers now! That's my new character motivation!" "I'm sad because Black Guy #1 is dead! He was likable!" - though that one was probably necessary, since they certainly never did much to establish his character while he was alive), a few goofy special effects and prosthetics, and a tiny bit of SHIELD vs. HYDRA intrigue is an "awesome start"?

While some people seem to like the show better now that it is delving more deeply in the Marvel Universe, I don't think the show has actually improved in quality. It's still deeply conventional, unchallenging fluff, seemingly made for children (only with more killings than that would tend to imply). It's still full of ropey writing, acting and production values.

i think i'd over hyped it for myself, due to the fact im just an easily excitable kind of guy... so i was a little underwhelmed until...

i'm looking forward to the inevitable tie in to age of ultron.

I don't feel quite as strongly as bronso, but he does make a few good points.

While it has improved a little since it started (not difficult), it's still a bit rubbish & I still don't really care about any of the characters. I also think it cheapens the brand somewhat.

I love the Marvel movies & I loved Coulson's cameos in the early ones & the One-Shot shorts they did with him, but his character was better written in those five minute slots than he has been in the entire run of this so far.

As for the latest episode, very 'meh' indeed. If you're coming back from a 3-month break, throw something BIG at us!

Oh, & Kyle McLachlan's character's motivations are up there in levels of stupidity with Deathstroke's in Arrow.

Gotta say, this new episode didn't particularly float my boat, and while season 2 as a whole has been better than season 1, it's not taken off apart from a few moments. Maybe the mid season break was too long and all my excitement evaporated.

The writing and characterisation here was of a particularly low quality. Fitz's behaviour with Skye was very strange and even the usual high point of May felt like she wasn't in the right show. Don't like what they've done to Raina, she was one of the most interesting characters and has suddenly become rather silly.

Despite Kyle McLachlan's silliness he's become the reason to watch this show for pure fun factor.

It was pretty average. A little tease and too much angst over black guy's death. Meh.

i find it compulsive viewing every week, although i nearly turned off for good during the first series, i'm realling enjoying the direction this is taking at the moment. the last episode was particularly good.

Even as background noise I'm finding it irritating now, so I've given up.

Such a waste of a half decent premise.

I'm still really enjoying it despite it's many faults but thankfully the positives far outweigh the negatives. Good, solid, weekly bubblegum entertaintment.

Very much enjoying it and this week's Melinda May Vs Mockingbird fight was very satisfying.

I'm enjoying SHIELD and The Flash but I really don't understand the love that Arrow gets. Maybe it's because I only started watching it recently since a friend at work is mildly obsessed with it but for me it's just pretty people having relationship issues with some martial arts and flashbacks thrown in. Most of the time it's more soap than anything else.

The first season of SHIELD started off fairly slow but I think it got progressively better and this season has been quite strong. The storylines/character development are getting more complex and it's tying into the wider Marvel universe.

Yes, Arrow was good entertainment for the first couple of seasons but the current series remains watchable but has took a large drop in quality. The soapy element has increased & the ongoing storylines are a mess with them throwing the entire DC sink at the screen to see what sticks.

Flash has been much more entertaining as it is new & fresh but you just know it will go the same way...

3rd season of Arrow has got a bit "soapy" but overall its still good. The Flash is fun and light hearted but it can be too cheesy at times with all these crappy name for the villians (saying thats dumb on screen does not cut it)

Have not seen s2 of agents of shield (will wait till it comes to netflix or instant) but the so called improvement for the end of s1 was not great, yeah it was better than the start of that.

I still love Arrow, Flash is decent, but Shield bores the arse off me. I only watch it because I'm expecting age of ultron tie-ins.

It's been a good season but it's starting to get a bit bogged down and overweight with the amount of characters they're trying to have arcs for.

Good characters and storyline are important but you're not Game Of Thrones, you're a comic book hero/villain show. Being entertaining is more important for a show like this.

Loved the Skye bit at the end though.

Have just caught up with Season 2. I think this show works much better when binged watched, I got bored in the first half of the season.. think it's the aforementioned multiple arcs which drag it down. I gave up on Agent Carter because it was too slow, hopefully that will also benefit from a binge session. I have also caught up with Flash, I think Shield has MUCH better dialogue and of course is shot better. Flash doesn't look any better than Smallville did 15 years ago! And is really cheesy.. But Flash episodes work better as TV, their monster of the week setup is easier to digest. Plus it has a fully working superhero, rather than a baby superhero. So it's a toss up...

Anyway.. looking forward to tonights episode.
