Mirrors - Alexandre AJA

An ex-cop (Sutherland) and his family are the target of a evil force that is using mirrors as a gateway into their home.

This is the new film from the director of - Haute Tension and The Hills Have Eyes :- starring amongst others Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Flemying.

Hopefully will be as gory as his previous efforts and the trailer look suitably scary which is over on Apple Trailers.....

Not released in the UK until October having first been released in Australia in August

I don't really bother watching this type of film at the cinema, so could be an early DVD import from Oz for me.

Hopefully Aja will maintain his record of one good (Haute Tension) one bad (Hills Have Eyes).

I mentioned this on the Frightfest thread here as I was intending to see it there at the end of August (It's UK premier).

However, I did not know of the Aussie DVD release being around the same time. Wouldn't mind if it was on my cinema pass, but at £10 a pop for individual tickets, I may now import the DVD instead!

That's another one struck off the FF schedule for me then!

Somehow the idea of Amy smart being able to unhinge her jaw isn't as appealing as it was in my imagination.

That bit was nasty wasn't it. Hope that wasn't the films money shot wasted in the trailer.

Boo. Highly entertaining gorefest. And better than the over-rated original too.

I thought this was supposed to be a remake of the Korean movie 'Into The Mirror?'

It sounds like they've totally gone in another direction with it... Still, I hope it's a good 'un as I've enjoyed Aja's previous work.

I agree but it does get a bit silly in the nucular village.

No lead lined fridges for a start.

As far as i know 'Mirrors' isn't a remake.

It is.. or was. However, they decided to re-imagine it, and take it in a completely different direction.

So it is, but it isn't.

Thanks for the clarification. It'll be interesting to see what they've made of it then.

I use either www.dvdcrave.com or www.ezydvd.com.au for my Australian DVD's. Never had a problem with either company. Had a look yesterday but could not see it listed.

@Ratfink - where did you see it listed?

Looks good. Kind of like a v. gory and loud Poltergeist III. And if that's not damning it with faint praise.....

No, it isn't. The original has a charm which the sequel nowhere near captures. In fact, bar the gore (which, to my mind, is a bit too sadistic in places), I can't think of any reason to watch the remake. Lesson over.

I'm still looking forward to his Pirhana remake, though.
