I quite like the look of it, but am slightly concerned at the relative lack of animation in the character's faces. Still - it's only an ad...

But did they say when this is coming out?

I can't believe this is a good idea. The first 2 series were fantastic, but this is going to suffer from the same problem as episode 3 - we know what's going to happen. Before ep3 there was maybe the suggestion that the Jedi could start to be out manoeuvred by the sith before ep3 began, but now we know that's not the case. A series between episode 4 and 5 showing the Empire chasing the rebels from Yavin would be good, but probably won't happen.

It's target audience is 8 years old, do you think they care ?

I think it looks fantastic and i can't wait. It's new material btw, not a retelling of the first 2 clone wars dvd's/series.

My son's really into Star Wars Lego at the moment, & spent all his Xmas money last week on the Lego Website.

One of the things he brought was Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter, but this is not one from the films, but the upcoming Clone Wars CGI cartoon.

I dont think there have been any pics of ships released anywhere else yet so this Lego version might be the first glimpse.

DIRECT LINK
(would post pictures but Photobucket is down at the moment, perhaps someone else will?)

Anyway looks different from the ones the Jedi's used in the films, so expect a whole lot of new merchandise coming you way.

Not to sure about the 8 year old target audience as Lucas was interviewed in the September 24, 2007 issue of TV Guide and revealed the following:
Quote:
40 episodes of the series have been completed
There is still no network set; "It has to go after 9 o'clock*, and it can't be on a kiddie channel."
* not sure if he means 9AM or PM here. Its not unusual for a "family" show to air after 9pm in the US)

There is also speculation that on August 8, 2008 the Clone Wars series will kick off as a theatrical release. This information was leaked at a Hasbro Stock Sharer's Conference, & has not been confirmed or denied.

I found a couple of references suggesting that the Clone Wars CGI series will be airing in the UK on Sky Movies. I'm going to be mighty pee'd off it that turns out to be true. Fair enough showing the theatrically released film, but the series is half-hour episodes.

There's no way I'd waste money subscribing to Sky Movies again since their rebranding debacle a couple of years back, so I guess I'll just have to wait for the DVD.

My son would be gutted if this turned out to be true

If true I wonder how long the hold back will be before it turns up on Sky 1

I can't confirm this as I haven't received my copy yet but my brother told me at the weekend that in the new issue of the Sky magazine there was an article which stated that the Clone Wars animated series was going to be screening on the Sky Movies channels starting at the end of October and that it would also be in HD on one of the channels.

The film was a couple of episodes cobbled together.

There's 100+ odd episodes of the Tv series planned, 30 have been completed already. The movie was 3 or 4 of them stitched together.

The series airs October 3rd in the US. The "movie episodes" are not the first ones.

Personally i can't wait - the movie was great fun and i want more.

Just had my copy of SkyMag and the additional movie supplement does indeed confirm that Clone Wars will begin on Saturday 25/10/2008 at 7pm on Sky Movies Premier and will also be broadcast in HD.

******** to Sky TV, the rip-off merchants, showing a kids programme on a premier movie channel. I'll buy the DVD when it eventually comes out.

i'll just find it elsewhere to watch, then buy the DVD's.

The series has had some reviews show up on AICN, with the usual results (some positive, some "lucas raped my childhood"). Interestingly, one reviewer was sneering about the flop of the movie as it'd only taken $40m domestically. I think $40m is pretty impressive for a movie that was essentially made for "free" (as it was made for the TV show) and the marketing from it will rub off on the TV show.

(just looked it up and it took $62,576,933 worldwide)

watched the first two with the kids this morning. Good fun. If you liked the movie, you'll like this. The first episode was better than the second with some great yoda action.

I actually preferred the second, myself, but I did think it was actually rather good. I haven't seen the film, but thought this was much better than I was expecting. Felt very star warsy, and I have to say I much preferred a Yoda that does his little giggle now and again - much missed from the new trilogy.

Also thought it didn't stint on the action, with the
actually being rather brutal...

Definitely going to keep on watching this.

Yeah, i really enjoyed it too. Not entirely sure that it fully fits into the established storyline, but its fun, so who cares!

Same here. Felt much more like Star Wars than the movie and were good self-contained stories. As mentioned Yoda was much more like his original trilogy self. Too much battle droid 'humour' though.
