When was the shark seen? Oh, I remember, when the boat blew and Michael and Sawyer were on the wreckage. why couldn't it have been a normal shark in the water?

I'm also a bit peeved as I thought I had ep1, but it turned out to be episode zero which was a recap of all of season 2. All the stressfull bits. Then I sat though this episode and had to go out for a walk I was so fired up with the storyline.

Does look like there's some dissent with the Other's camp. Benry may be the boss, but he's not respected by all. This could be good for the three captives. Interesting that they are using different techniques for breaking them down. Are they trying to make them 'better' people?

At the beginning of this ep, just after he assigned Ethan and the other bloke to invade the camps, why did Ben say something along the lines of "I guess that means that I am no longer in the book club anymore" ?

He wasn't there in the first place. I had to go back and check that he wasn't the debating old guy in disguise.

OMG! Just had a brain wave... what if Ben meant that he was "no longer part of the book club" because it is his turn to be replaced - by Jack, like Desmond was replaced by Locke (hence why Jack is being treated better than Sawyer and Kate).

He said he wasn't part of the bookclub anymore because he refused to read the book and go to the bookclub meeting.

and, oh that plane crashing might have meant he'd have more things on his mind than some silly book.

Saw for the first time on Sky One last night. I was gripped through out.
One thing that got me thinking was how did Ben know that there would be survivors from the plane? If i saw a plane break up in mid-air my first thought would be that all the passengers were going to die. I'm guessing that later on in the series we're going to find out that plane crashes are a regular occurance on the island.

I'm still watching but have to say I liked it more when it was concerned more with the metaphysical. It's turned into a different kind of show and there's a difference between not really knowing what was going on (and going with it) and having to really work and try and make sense of all the connections and remember all the plot points.

Might have missed it but..
the first time we see Jack in the Shark tank he shouts out through the glass and we can only just hear him. Once Juliet's talking to him in a normal voice through the glass they can hear each other perfectly.
It's obviously not the intercom as Juliet said it hadn't worked in a long time, so how did the two of them have a conversation?

they are watching and listening to Jack all the time, Juliet was referring to the old intercom on the wall, perhaps they have another?

I seem to remember Juliet playing with some controls at the back of the room while whe was initially trying to talk to JAck (while he was pulling on the chain).
