Its the only one that wasn't free to air.

It often clashes with Wimbledon, why on earth did the cricket and tennis clash?

The F1 has been this weekend for a number of years. It was actually Wimbledon which moved back a week so created the clash a few years ago. This was because of demand from the players for an extra week on grass post the French Open, and the French wouldn’t move forward a week.

Cricket as has been posted in this thread many times, is now set for the ICC events by Indian TV demands. Star own global TV rights and sell on to Sky for UK. Indians in the main aren’t interested in tennis or F1. All that matters is cricket and then to a much lower degree football.

They could have finished the cricket earlier with more two games on a day during the group stage. However a day / night in UK is an after midnight finish in India hence only a few allowed. A day time UK match means a prime time evening finish for Indian TV hence why most matches scheduled like that.

From the BBC:-

Wimbledon final on Sunday attracted a peak TV audience of 9.6 million on BBC 1.

England's Cricket World Cup final win over New Zealand was watched by a peak of 7.9m across Channel Four and Sky.

A peak of 2.5 million viewers watched the British Grand Prix on Channel Four.

What would those numbers have been if they were only on Sky/Pay TV I wonder.

They have no interest in numbers only money, the hotel being built on the start finish straight should point that out.

It's a shame that most sports have just become about money primarily over anything else.

Back to the racing, when will Ferrari start backing LeClerc, or are they contractually obliged to favour Vettel?

I would imagine he's got number 1 driver status unless Ferrari have a termination/downgrade clause in his contract.
