I agree with Spooky. From what I can glean from the trailer I think Jack Black is going to be just fine in the Denham role. He's a lot better actor than he is given credit for and is certainly up to this sort of heavily stylised form of acting.
Although it didn't bother me too much when I first downloaded the trailer - the dinosaurs looked an awful lot better on the big screen - the colours all seemed more natural and they looked like finished shots.

Does PJ own Weta then, if so he gets money from the budget through Weta his company, his fee and then millions on the back end? is that correct?

That's interesting - I thought that they would be on the eventual DVD release but curious to have a separate release to co-incide with the actual release.
Of course all these are available on the King Kong website ( www.kongisking.net) - I assume they are all the same.

Production Diaries?
A perfect example of how DVD sales are the main course. Cinema playing sloppy seconds.
Its a bit big-headed. But hype is hype
Lets hope its a good movie. Or Universal are gonna have to find a big ditch to put all these in.
Or maybe it already stinks and Universal are selling the extras before we find what a trainwreck the movie is. Whoops, to much thinking....

Found this box over at DVD From Korea website if you are after the 1933/1976 versions.

Having being an extra on this film, it's going to be pretty weird seeing people I know on an official DVD release. I will proably have to buy it out of respect for the fun time I had.

Having just had a look at the Kong website, I see that Universal have made them take the first 54 production diaries offline because of the DVD release

Oh dear! Peter Jackson's composer and 'best friend' Howard Shore has been sacked after an entire year's work and $2m spent on the score. Jackson has had to release a statement saying they had differing ideas for the score and decided to part ways amicably. Not true - PJ absolutely loved it this time last week.
So... reading between the lines (and my own opinion of how ghastly the film looks from the trailer), I'm guessing that this film sucks big time and Shore has been made the scapegoat by desperately worried studio execs.
James Newton Howard (Sixth Sense, Falling Down) is replacing him.

Sounds like Troy all over again. No doubt Newton-Howard will crank out the best he can, but I can't see how a last minute score could work out to be any better than one that's been under development from the very start (let alone make a (potentially) dire film great).

Also noted on aintitcool.com (why do I still visit there?) that Kong's face seems to have undergone changes. These changes (if real) are very different from Kong in the trailer and it makes me wonder who is calling the shots on character design at this late stage, Jackson or Corporate Interferring Suits?

By all accounts Shore's score was going to be a a mixture of period sounding music and 'ethnic' music with weird instruments for the island bits. What's the bets we'll end up with some generic 'action' music with maybe the odd wailing Arab/Celtic woman to show the serious moments (ie. pretty much everything sounds the same since the success of Gladiator).

Is that fact ? Do you know either of them on a personal level to know that information ...
