Which release did you get Dave? The R2 2-disk Special Edition with the fold-out sleeve should have a handsome booklet

I have this version "Special Collectors Edition", Ł6 from amazon
Affiliated Link

It came with a nice sepia coloured 16 page booklet (top right)
Lots of text, nice pictures

Indeed the R1 looks cack in comparison. Still it does include the Original Mono track, even thought the 5.1 remix is suitably faithful to it. Unlike the MGM Leone's!

Are booklets not removed from subsequent printings of some discs as a cost-cutting measure?

Did anybody get the 'Indy Mail' for the Indiana Jones Boxset in the Once Upon A Time In The West DVD?

Nicest bit of junk-leaflet advertising ive seen in a DVD case.
Not to sure if was just with the first batch.

I also got the Indie letter. Must admit I think it's a nice touch . I treasure my copy of OUATITW. The release is excellent, though it could have been better with the mono for R2, but I do like the 5.1 soundtrack anyway.

Mine came with all the booklets intact... wonderful DVD release of one of the greatest films ever. Oh, and I'd prefer to have a 5.1 mix than a mono!
