What banks/buidling societies do you recommend?
Bear in mind how safe they are and how you rate them on other performances

We've just opened a Cash ISA with the Principality Building Society and they've been very helpful

Can't get safer than Northern Rock and NS&I at the moment

The Co-Operative bank and HSBC are probably safest at the moment, apart from NR and NS&I.

The shareholders are the members - so it can't suffer from stock market crashes, and it also hasn't had to dip into the money markets this year as it self funds from deposits
