Batman: Arkham Origins

Details here:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...m-origins.aspx

Quote:
Warner Bros. Games Montreal has taken the mantle of the bat from Rocksteady Studios this time around for Batman: Arkham Origins. WB Montreal has full access to Rocksteady's custom modified Unreal engine to capture the look and feel of the Arkhamverse. As the title suggests, the game takes place years before both of the previous Arkham titles when a young, unrefined Batman encounters many supervillains for the first time. On our full cover image below, fans will recognize the assassin Deathstroke, who appears for the very first time in a core Arkham game.
Cautiously optimistic. I'm a bit apprehensive that Rocksteady aren't delivering, but they didn't exactly have much of a proven track record before Arkham Asylum came along...

Loved Arkham Asylum but hated Arkham City. I guess I'm 50/50 on this.

I preferred the first game as well. Wondered when a third would be announced. Been one of the best series of games this gen.

I can see why one would prefer one over the over, but hate City and love Asylum? Seems a little odd to me.

Tried Asylum when it first came out but it didn't really grab me for some reason. City on the other hand blew me away so much that I immediately went back to Asylum afterwards and completed it!

This and GTA5 are all I really care about this year..........

Planned release is October 25 apparently, on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U.

I much preferred Asylum to City, but the second was still an absolutely solid game. So here's hoping for another good addition to the series.

They're also developing Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the 3DS and Vita, to release on the same day. It's a "2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game".

Interested certainly, but wary about the change in developer!

Sigh - these systems are so different I can't see why you would want to try to develop the same game for both of them. Would have much prefered something designed to take advantage of the Vita's power.

awwwww yeahhhh. I just hope the change in developers doesn't **** up the game. Other than that I'm pretty excited...

Well it is being developed by a new studio set up by ex metroid designers.

Arkham Asylum was the best Metroid clone of recent years, so more of that is a good thing

Been rumoured for ages that Rocksteady are working on another DC Property possibly Justice League based although with Infinite Crisis and Injustice that property is rather crowded already. Might hear more around E3.

The next rocksteady Batman game is going to be based on golden/silver age Batman.

Which as a Bat fan i can not wait for.

I think this has an exciting setup and I'm glad Rocksteady are being given the time to bring us the Big Bad Bat on next-gen most likely October 2014. That third game in their narrative is going to be immense if treated right!

I hated traversing around the map. It was just a complete chore and no fun at all.

Asylum was a much tighter and more enjoyable game.

I'm looking forward to this but hope they do something with the map despite just double its size. City was pretty big anyway and if its just more of the same I don't see the point in making it any bigger.

I loved moving around the map as Batman, but I certainly wouldn't want to try it in a much bigger game world. Unless they introduced the Batmobile.

And who's idea was it to make the map a bloody U-shape? Seriously irritating, I liked Asylum and played City, but City wasn't much fun.

Enjoyed both games, but preferred the first too. I wanted to complete everything with Asylum, City just felt exhausting in that regard. 250+ Joker trophies iirc?

Still provided the joyous ability of flying around a vast space as Batman though.

as its a year one story we may see more of Bruce outside the suit at the start, hopefully some pre-catwoman Selina Kyle becoming a thief after seeing Batman in action. Maybe Wayne Manor with Alfred, Blackgate and the Slums and of coarse the police chasing Batman before Gordon takes charge.
