They've announced this morning that Ultimate Warrior has died, cause tbc.

On Raw the day before he made a statement about when your heart beats it's final beat. Chilling.

Really sad news.
Wrestling fans who only got into it since the mid-90s really don't understand how big a star he was from 1988-91. In a time when everything revolved around Hogan, Warrior came along and split the fanbase. Watching Wrestlemania VI live was amazing, seeing for the first time people actually cheering for a Hogan opponent. In a way, it was like the fans of a boy band vs the fans of a rock band, and kind of gave an idea of what the attitude era would become, where the fans cheer who they want rather than who they're told to.

He admitted himself that he wasn't the best wrestler, but he created so much energy that it didn't matter. In that first WWF run, I always enjoyed watching his matches more than anyone else.

Bloody hell, was more of a shock than the Macho Man's death, what with him being on TV over the past few days

Their Wrestlemania 7 match was always a favourite of mine as a kid.

Absolutely stunned at the news - the timing is unbelievable. I've still got my Warrior wrestling buddy from when I was like 9 - it's sat proudly to the side in my TV room for like a decade now. So shocked that he's passed; though I did think he looked a bit rough moving around on Raw.

Truly gutted at the news - I grew up with the WWF and watching Hogan/Warrior. The guy was a first class entertainer. When he went on a rant, you had no idea what he was on about but in some way, you understood him. He was intense, not the most gifted wrestler but he knew it. They were the days of the pumped up wrestlers and speed and agility was not high on the list.

But everytime that guitar riff kicked in, the hairs on the back of my neck stond up.

Goodbye, bro - going to dig out Wrestlemania 6 and remember a time when wrestling was truly great :-(

Just watched his appearance on Raw and my word his choice of words just seem so eerie. A true hero from my childhood. RIP

Although I must say he I could have passed him on the street and not recognised him, he has changed so much since his wrestling stint in the 90s, if you look at someone like Hogan, he may look older but still looks like hogan.

Perfectly put. I havent watched wresting properly since the late 90's (only occasionally catching something when my younger brothers were watching) but I used to love the Hogan v Warrior match ups.

Us old buggers remember when you didn't have the big stars appearing on tv every week in ppv calibre matches. Hogan and Warrior were rarely on tv and you never saw them together (this was when they ran two different shows each night and they'd normally be in different towns). The Rumble was the first time they crossed paths and it never clicked what was happening until Rick Martel went flying over the top. You can see at that moment from the fans' reactions that no-one saw it coming. It was a totally electric moment that they could never recreate in the modern era.

How many times did Hogan and Warrior actually square off I only seem to remember Wrestlemania 6? Having watched that match as a kid I was enthralled having watched it last year again it was a pretty poor, very long match.

Twice. The other was at Halloween Havoc in WCW. Terrible match that hurt the legacy of the original
