Jerry Lawler had a heart attack during yesterday's RAW - amazed they carried on with the show really. Apparantly Michael Cole did an excellent job under the circumstances.

Raw was quite a hard watch. It happened during the Prime Time Players - Bryan/Kane match, the commentary stopped for a bit, the crowd went very silent and weren't even looking in the ring. Cole held it together really well, but stopped doing commentary after updating the audience on The Kings condition, he was almost in tears

Lawler wrestled earlier, but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary happen to him, and he was his usual self on commentary after. A scary moment. Get well soon King

I was jumping between the tennis on Sky Sports 1 and Raw on Sports 3 because I heard Bret Hart was going to be on, so I actually made it all the way to the Kane/Bryan tag match. I'd been thinking for a while that I needed to call it a night as it was so late, but I actually wanted to watch that match since I like Bryan when I've seen him, but I gave-up part through that match - probably around the time of the heart-attack

The first I heard of it was a tweet a few hours ago wishing him well, which given he wrestled earlier in the show was a little confusing.

Sounds pretty positive now, hopefully a full recovery will be on the cards. I've been thinking that, like with Fabrice Muamba, that this was actually a good place for it to happen as WWE obviously have a lot of medical people on hand to get immediate attention to him - but damn what a thing to happen

And I've never said this before, but Michael Cole

I saw that just now - heartbreakingly sad with the empty chair next to him

Very difficult to watch....and has been said, eerily similar (announcement-wise) to Owen.

Get well soon Jerry.

Shocking news and just hope he can get back to full health - he was one of the reasons the product was just compulsive viewing in the 90s/early 2000s. Although he's obviously had to tone down the heel side of things in recent years, he's still the best around.

Just amazed Michael Cole was able to keep going at all

Encouraging news online today, apparently no brain damage at all so it looks like he'll recover OK. Hope we can see back at the announce table.

I know it's been said but whole new level of respect for Michael Cole after Monday.

MORE GOOD NEWS ON JERRY LAWLER'S CONDITION, JIM ROSS TALKS ABOUT HIS GOOD FRIEND AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2012-09-12 14:14:25
TMZ has an update on Jerry Lawler. According to his son Kevin, Lawler is still hooked up to tubes and unable to speak but he is writing long, detailed notes to communicate with people. That is obviously great news.

http://www.pwinsider.com/article/718...-more.html?p=1

Really good news coming steadily out all the time it seems - can't wait for the day he walks back out on Raw

Gutted to hear the news. At least it happened somewhere with medical crews on standby, so the best possible place really.

Definitely. I heard several statements saying that if it had happened anywhere else he would have died. Really scary.

The Blue Meanie just posted this to his Facebook:

Made me smile. I'm so pleased he's doing well.

New Jack has been his usual douchebag self, with regard to Lawler though.

I saw Jerry Lawler posted a little Tout video a few hours back, even managed to crack a corny joke - he must be doing better

It just goes to show how well Michael Cole plays his heel charater. It was either the worlds best piece of acting or...Anyone could see that Cole was in tears during most of his updates.

I hate Cole's character (but I guess that's the point of it) but like him because I have a new found level of respect form him.

In the interim...how about The Hot Rod, Mr Piper?

they should bring back Stryker, he's the only commentator they've had in the past few years who actually knows what's going on in the ring..

I'd love to see Joey Styles in the seat.

Now Jerry is out of the woods, I'd be interested to see what they do with Cole's character. They have been softening him for weeks now (e.g. him disagreeing with Miz on commentary last week), so it is possible and plausible for him to revert to a regular commentator now.

He might be somewhat sick of the constant vilification.
