Web Cam (HD?)

Looking to finally get a webcam, and want to get a good one.

I've seen you can get (what is branded as) HD webcams now, and also there is something like Skype HD.

The only really two I've quickly looked at are a Msoft model, which is supposed to be good, but apparently does not comply in some way with Skype HD standards, and a Logitec one that does.

Also read some issues with autofocus on one of them.

So I thought I'd just ask here if anyone had got a good one recently and any real life issues/recommendations you could make to me.

Low light performance (not too grainy) is something I'd like, I'm not worried about stuff like motorised head tracking.

Just a good clear detailed image that gives good colours in low light.

Thanks.

This one perhaps?

Msoft LifeCam Studio

Or perhaps this is better?

Logitech webcam pro 9000

Very quick YouTube search show me this, which make the 1st one (Msoft) look a LOT better to me anyway:

I went for the Logitech C910 which I think has been replaced with the C920.
I went for this one as it is driverless in WinXP SP3 and later as it supports UVC mode which also works in Linux and OSX.
They also work with some TVs that have Skype built-in.

The 9000's brilliant, my wife Skype's her family on the other side of Europe every day and our picture from them is dreadful which I'd put down to crappy internet at their end, but I recently saw some snaps my mother in law had taken at home with the Skype connection to us open in the background, the image they get from us and our 9000 is astonishingly clear.

the above video makes the logitech look very choppy, not something we've ever noticed before.

Thanks for the reply. Lot of interest no replies (apart from your one)
I am wondering how much better these are for normal use. In one of the many reviews on Amazone someone says for normal Skype/facebook/yahoo video link use, the person at the other end is not going to see anything any better than with a low end Msoft one.

So wondering is a high end one actually worth it. I agree, that video makes the Logitech one look poor. My main issue is lighting. I like a very dimply lit room, so pretty much the only light hitting my face will come from my screen.

that will seriously limit the video quality, our logitech does struggle in and out of focus if the light gets that low.

I have got Microsoft LifeCam Studio hd, works fine with me.I turn off the auto
focus otherwise it keeps trying to focus if you don't sit still.
Use it on skype every day, it still all depends what internet connection both parties have.
I chat with fam in south of France, never brill, chat with friends in the UK sharp as anything.
Works fine in low light (not darkness of course, you can adjust settings anyway in software)

True, but you might need a zoom for what you plan on getting up to
