What is the set up fee for ? is that the new box or do they have to replace the LNB on your dish and run extra cables as doesn't it have more than the two tuners of HD+.

Just seems a swizz to rip off early adopters, at best they're running another wire, it'll be less setup than a standard setup from scratch

But the most they charge for new customer or multi room set up is £49 this this sounds like a ripoff at the list price.

I got a Silver setup fee free email IF you change to SkyBB for free (£17.49 a month line rental) I'm locked to BT for 6 more months, hopefully SkyQ will be better(multiple EPGs) and cheaper by then

Received the Sky Q Silver offer with the set up fee waiver (no requirement to take Sky Broadband). The engineer replaced my old Dish and fitted a new 2 output LNB. Also supplied a broadband booster as my Q box and Q box mini were too far apart to achieve a stable connection.

So if i ring up to cancel Sky they’ll offer me Sky Q even though i’m with BT Internet and not leaving?

Might wait till my box breaks.

A question for those with a second Sky Q box:

Is the PSU internal or on the Plug? I ask as if its a standard figure of 8 powercable it'll be very easy to move from room to room. All I'll need is a spare HDMI and Fig 'o 8 in the bedroom. With only 2 of us in the house it'll be almost easy enough for a 70yo, if I can teach her....

All the psu's are internal,so with spare cables it would be a case of just moving the box,we do this with a mini box and swap it between a bedroom and to a summerhouse in the garden

Not liking the "top picks" clutter of the new Sky HD EPG home screen. Half the screen taken for something I never use.

The "watched" progress bar on the planner is good.

Deleted items getting removed after 60 days shouldn't affect me.. Will have to see how the catch up/box set auto download works out but I think it can be menu disabled.

What say you?

I recently rang SKY to re negotiate my package, anyhow they reduced my payments by 50% but only for nine months, but they keep you on a 12 month contract. He wouldn't give me a twelve month deal. I said that I wouldn't be gaining much as I will be paying full price for the remaining months, but he said ring back just before the ninth month is up and re negotiate again, but surely they would just say tough luck for the last three months and as I'm still in a contract I'd have to pay full price? Should I keep the deal or cancel?

Cancel. Download the service app on Android or IOS. I had 50% off for 12 months there after a few mins. Was at work and when I got home I checked the service menu on my Sky+ box and it gave me 60% off!

How were you able to get the 50% discount ? I downloaded the service app but couldn't see any offers.

You need to cancel your service first. Then it appears on the app once that's been confirmed.

It gave me the 50% off offer literally minutes after putting the phone down from cancelling.

I rang to cancel, which I did as they still would'nt give me a 12 month contract.
The advisor said that she would have to assign the cancellation to the new minimum term team whom will cancel for me and call in 48hrs. Why could'nt the advisor do it, is it because i'm in my 31 day cooling period?
Anyhow, i've downloaded the service app, and i'll keep my eye on any deals, once the cancellation goes through.
Thanks everyone.

I went through 'the dance' again recently.

My 60% off offer ended and my payments rocketed for a month. I called a local shop in town and asked what their Sky offers were for new customers. £30 for family pack box sets, HD, sports and movies was what they could do.

I called Sky and cancelled saying that my wife would take up the offer from the shop in town. Plus we would get a new box.

They agreed on the cancellation. A week later I had a call from Sky offering me 60% off again.
I told them that I would stick to leaving and sign up again as a new customer.
They then matched the shop's offer on a 12 mth deal with no contract. I could walk away with 31 days' notice.

Bingo.

Sky Q - Don't!

"Upgraded" from Sky + HD to Sky Q. BIGGEST mistake ever!

Multiple issues:

(1) sound dropouts - known fault http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/in...d/td-p/2435729

(2) Wi-Fi dropouts

(3) Satellite signal "lost" - recovers on reboot

Attempting to get Sky to come remove the crap and reinstate my Sky+ - having waited an hour in a "3 minute" queue I've given up for this evening.

Don't believe the hype it's still having multiple teething problems

How annoying. With the launch of SkyQ they have now stopped doing Multiscreen with SkyHD boxes.

I wanted an extra box installing in another part of the house with a separate planner and recordings but now that's apparently not possible because the Mini SkyQ boxes share recordings over both boxes which isn't what I want. I want the two separate users to be exactly that - completely separate with their own recordings.

Do you reckon independent satellite installers would be able to supply and install a separate SkyHD box? Then I'd only need a new viewing card from Sky. Though even if i do that, how would Sky charge me for it if they don't offer it any more?
