I reckon we will sign him.

The president told Kuyt we've made an offer - which we did, several weeks ago - nothing about a new offer in the past day or two

kuyt could similar to kezman-banged them in in holland then couldn't hack it in the premier league. 10 million is a big gamble for us given our finances.let's get trezeguet on loan

I agree, the Dutch league is much weaker than the EPL and although you can't judge a player on his world cup form he didn't even show flashes of why he might be a top striker for us. I'd rather we went in for Anelka again than Kuyt....

Wouldn't you miss the gangly fella chuntering up the wing only to launch the ball in a direction as far away from his intended recopient as possible, before rushing back, lunging, getting some ball, some leg and then dancing in his area and taking the ball over the line?

No? ok...

Sounds like he will fit in to our team nicely

Looks like he can score a goal or two as well:

To be honest I think we could do a lot worse than him.

And he could be a Van Nistelrooy - you just never know with Johnny Foreigner

quite true but can we afford to take the gamble with our limited transfer funds or should we be looking at players who have proven themselves in the EPL?

Not like it really matters, we dont look anywhere near making a move for Kuyt. Probably just his agent trying to drum up some interest.

So the question is, who is our 4th Striker target? If not Kuyt, Anelka or Trezquet? Also who is gonna play right wing? Probably not Joaquin, or Simao, possibly not even Alves! Pennant?

Who says it won't be Trez and/or Alves ??

Has anyone at LFC said we are no longer after these players ? The last report I read on Alves - in the last couple of days - said Rafa was still actively pursuing him.

Its just always a bit worrying due to the way our club is run at board level, speculation could drag on for weeks and we end up with no-one by the end of the transfer window. Still plenty of time left, but hopefully they dont drag it on till the last week.

I do think we've made more progress this year than last though. We've signed a number of first team/replacement first team members. On top of this we've managed to trim some of the dead wood from the wage bill. This makes us a leaner team.

Hopefully we'll have the striker and RW positions sorted soon. If not, Gerrard to the RW and Bellamy/Crouch upfront with Fowler as super-sub.

That's not what I mean't, my post was badly worded, I mean't to say if it's not Kuyt then how about Anelka or Trezquet? Hopefully we still are after both or one of them.

Bellamy/Crouch isnt gonna have us challenging for the league. We need another striker and we have been looking for a RW for 2 years now, if we cant get a decent one its a very bad sign.

Seems Anelka was well annoyed by Houllier. Imagine the difference if we had gone for him and not Douf

Anelka would still be a canny piece of business, but I fear he is a bit similar to Bellamy.

PSV after Kromkamp and Osasuna after FloPo (although both proabbly only loan deals ), so Rafas spring clean is ongoing it seems.

I think you'll be surprised how effective this partnership could be. Whilst I'm aware it's not tried and tested I believe that these two could have a large degree of success playing together. That is barring injuries of course.

I'd love to buy another striker, but I don't things it's the end of all thing if we don't. I think a decent RW is key though. SWP would be a great signing in my opinion.

After reading Robbie's autobiography I'm not sure Robbie will be too keen on Anelka come to Anfield
