Wouldn't the BBFC marking do? Like they show in cinemas before the main film (it's been so long since I was last in a cinema I'm not sure if they still do that).

Yes, but my point being what do you put a disclaimer about? Everything? Or be selective? Who gets to choose what they think *might* be offensive to someone?

Really not convinced you could watch anything on TV or film tbh? It'd need the right combination of all races and genders in it, and spend the entire movie explaining where they were from and how they identify. You wouldn't actually have time for them to do anything which is probably a good thing.

Then let them be offended, I don't care. There ought to be a limit to what someone can protest about and everyone pauses to be politically correct before opening their mouths or taking a step, we'll all end-up as programmed androids like Bishop. Nice guy mind, but I'd rather be Hicks or Ripley thank you.

It gets to the point where it is impossible, especially when people are just looking to be offended. It's funny, I used to laugh at the USA religious right wingers for this, they wouldn't watch Shrek because there was cross dressing in it.

Now it seems to have gone full circle and cranked up to 11.

It'd be easier if they just banned some people from watching TV, not quite sure how they'd cope with the real world if television is too much (it's quite clear from my time in the civil service, that for the mostpart they couldn't cope)

Apparently it was about the white actress Jenette Goldstein playing the Latino character of Vasquez

I don't think Lance Henrikson was a real android either.

I watched Aliens recently, it really does hold up well. The effects are almost pefect, the use of rear projection was clearly the perfect choice for this type of film.

I love Aliens, but the cast running away from the dropship crash looked rubbish in 1986 & still looks rubbish now.

Looks far better than if they'd one it blue screen though.

Ripley and the marines assumed the Alien Queen's gender?

But she was a great character! Very kick ass!

I didn't know that, she was 100% convincing in that role and I thought she was actually 'culturally appropriating' the Irish in Titanic! - Far less convincing.

I have seen Alien at least a dozen times, but last night was the first time I have seen it in the cinema - it's spectacular. Simply breathtaking. The atmosphere and tension throughout is incredible and I don't think any description can do it justice - if it's on in a theatre near you now, go and see it!!

No, no it is not. The earlier inserted colonist scenes ruin the mystery and dread felt during the Marines arrival on the LV426 in the theatrical release. And as much as I love the sentry guns they are nothing more than nerdgasm, I wish they'd been worked in more organically rather than getting their own scenes.

The answer to this question will always depend on nostalgia and for me that is Aliens, it's so much more rewarding a cinematic experience.

The point of the guns part though is to build (even more) tension as they back off without knowing whether the guns will continue or not. But yes, I agree for the theatrical version I can see why it was removed.

Yeah I hate the inserted LV426 scene at the beginning of the DC. The rest of it is great though.

It's been a while since I've watched Aliens. Are those the scenes with Captain Hollister from Red Dwarf?
